Early on, many observers felt that Reece Whitley<\/strong>, who just completed his junior year at William Penn Charter High School (Pa.), could be a transcendent talent in swimming. Swimming World\u2019s 2016-17 Male Swimmer of the Year (No. 1 rankings in the 100 breast and 200 IM with a national record in the 100 breast) hasn\u2019t gotten there yet, but his continued growth\u2014in the water and outside of it\u2014combined with his talent and ability to focus could give Whitley all that he needs to reach the pinnacle.<\/p>\n

Author\u00a0David Rieder<\/strong> interviewed the young breaststroke star, getting to know the star who has been quickly making his talent known.<\/p>\n
