{"id":268489,"date":"2017-07-26T02:14:24","date_gmt":"2017-07-26T09:14:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=268489"},"modified":"2017-07-26T02:41:58","modified_gmt":"2017-07-26T09:41:58","slug":"team-usa-blasts-340-28-mixed-medley-relay-world-record","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/team-usa-blasts-340-28-mixed-medley-relay-world-record\/","title":{"rendered":"Team USA Blasts 3:40.28 Mixed Medley Relay World Record"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Team USA delivered a strong showing in prelims of the mixed medley relay, loading the relay with three 2016 Olympians and one NCAA Champion.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ryan Murphy<\/strong>, the world record holder in the men&#8217;s 100 back, led the team off with a sharp 52.34 split, before transitioning to breaststroke standout\u00a0<strong>Kevin Cordes<\/strong>. Cordes (58.95) held off a quick-charging\u00a0<strong>Richard Funk<\/strong>\u00a0(59.04) of Canada to give\u00a0<strong>Kelsi Worrell<\/strong>\u00a0(56.17) the lead going into the butterfly leg.<\/p>\n<p>Worrell continued to hold the lead, keeping Canada&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Rebecca Smith<\/strong>\u00a0(57.57) at bay as\u00a0<strong>Mallory Comerford<\/strong>\u00a0(52.82) dove in as Team USA&#8217;s anchor leg.
