The long course YMCA National meet has long looked a bit different than the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/meet\/2017-ymca-short-course-nationals\" target=\"_blank\">short course edition<\/a> and this summer appears to follow that trend. This summer&#8217;s meet takes place in what has become the home of the short course championships- the Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, NC.<\/p>\n<p>A number of typically large teams have chosen to end their summer seasons elsewhere, including Sarasota and Triangle Area.\u00a0Given the wealth of championships meet opportunities in the long course season, some of the spring&#8217;s stars including York&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Courtney Harnish<\/strong>,\u00a0Bath Area&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Caitlin Tycz<\/strong>, Countryside&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Grant House<\/strong>, and Eau Claire&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Paul\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Delakis\u00a0<\/strong>are also absent from the psych sheets. These changes could give some of the YMCA&#8217;s younger faces a chance to step forward and could change the competition for others.<\/p>\n<p>York and York County YMCA&#8217;s <strong>Leah Braswell\u00a0<\/strong>is over-entered on the psych sheets. While we don&#8217;t know what she will scratch, she&#8217;s got the opportunity to chase some National titles as she&#8217;s seeded first in the 800 and 1500, along with the 200 IM. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/florida-gators-get-verbal-commitment-from-y-national-champ-leah-braswell\/\" target=\"_blank\">University of Florida commit<\/a> also adds a second place seed in the 400 IM and a seventh place ranking in the 200 fly. Along with those, Braswell also has the potential to mix up her typical event line up with entries in the 200 backstroke, 100 breaststroke, and 50 freestyle.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Lizzy Colwell\u00a0<\/strong>of New Canaan Community YMCA saw some pretty sizable time drops at short course YMCA Nationals. The rising senior now enters the long course meet as the top seed in the 50, 100, and 200 breaststrokes, as well as sixth in the 200 IM and 11th in the 400 IM.<\/p>\n<p>YMCA National record holder\u00a0<strong>Camryn Forbes\u00a0<\/strong>is back to defend her 100 backstroke National Title. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/camryn-forbes-gives-verbal-commitment-to-indiana\/\" target=\"_blank\">Indiana University<\/a> commit from Butler YMCA is also seeded first in the 100 freestyle and 200 backstroke and second in the 50 backstroke.<\/p>\n<p>Bradford&#8217;s 15 year old\u00a0<strong>Paige Hetrick\u00a0<\/strong>is first seed in the 50 freestyle, though she has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/tennessee-picks-up-verbal-commit-from-ynational-champ-bailey-grinter\/\" target=\"_blank\">soon-to-be Vol\u00a0<\/a><strong>Bailey Grinter\u00a0<\/strong>of Edwardsville, and a field of sprinters are on her tail.\u00a0Countryside&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Megan Sichterman\u00a0<\/strong>lands atop the 50 and 100 butterfly rankings.<\/p>\n<p>On the boy&#8217;s side,\u00a0<strong>Maxwell McHugh\u00a0<\/strong>leads all three breaststroke events. The Door County YMCA&#8217;s rising senior and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/ymca-national-champion-max-mchugh-verbally-commits-to-minnesota\/\" target=\"_blank\">Minnesota commit<\/a> holds the 50 breaststroke National record and is entered over two seconds ahead of the next fastest swimmer.<\/p>\n<p>Somerset Valley&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Riley Pestorius\u00a0<\/strong>is entered in a number of events. Most notably he is top seed in the 800 and 1500 freestyles and third seed in the 400 free. He&#8217;s also flaunting his versatility with a second seed in the 100 butterfly. Upper Main Line&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Brendan Burns\u00a0<\/strong>is top seed in that event by nearly two seconds. Burns is also top seed in the 200 fly and second seed in the 50 fly.<\/p>\n<p>Hickory&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Ross Dant\u00a0<\/strong>leads the way into the 400 freestyle by nearly three seconds. The 16 year old <a href=\"http:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/courtney-harnish-ross-dant-top-distance-events-at-2017-ymca-sc-nationals\/\" target=\"_blank\">challenged the 1,000 National record<\/a> at the short course meet in April before also <a href=\"http:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/sarasota-men-break-800-free-relay-ymca-national-record-on-night-four\/\" target=\"_blank\">winning the 500<\/a>. Dant is also seeded second in the 200 back.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Carson Burt\u00a0<\/strong>(Powel Crosley),\u00a0<strong>Hank Siefert\u00a0<\/strong>(Coffman), and\u00a0<strong>Josh Cohen\u00a0<\/strong>(Fanwood Scotch Plains) have set up a tight race in the 200 freestyle, all seeded within three tenths of each other. Burt is also fourth seed in the 100 free and 100 fly. It&#8217;s Seifert (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/ymca-national-champion-hank-siefert-gives-verbal-to-university-of-kentucky\/\" target=\"_blank\">a soon to be Kentucky Wildcat<\/a>)\u00a0who is second in the 50 and 100 back and 100 and 400 free (and the current National record holder).<\/p>\n<p>In the 400 IM Wilton&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>James Mostofi\u00a0<\/strong>is top seed by three and a half seconds.
