MINNESOTA&#39;s Jillian Tyler picked up the women&#39;s 100-yard breast title at the NCAA Division I Women&#39;s Championships.<\/p>\n<p>Tyler built on her swim throughout the race, finishing with a winning time of 58.39.  That swim stands seventh all time, while Tyler already ranks fourth with a lifetime best of 58.22.  Only Tara Kirk (57.77), Annie Chandler (58.06) and Rebecca Soni (58.10) have been faster than Tyler.  The win is Minnesota&#39;s second in the event at NCAAs with Gretchen Hegener being the first Golden Gopher to surface victorious with a 1:00.32 in 1997.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;I&#39;m so happy right now. It means the world to me,&quot; Tyler said. &quot;These last four years have been hard and long, and for this to happen now \u2013 I&#39;m so happy. I just put my head down and swam to the finish. You just think about all the hard training we&#39;ve done this year. I knew I couldn&#39;t lose it on the last 25. I raced hard to the wall.&quot;<\/p>\n<p>Texas A&#038;M&#39;s Breeja Larson touched second in 58.51 to move to fifth all time, while George Mason&#39;s Ashley Danner clocked a third-place 59.23. USC&#39;s Kasey Carlson (59.29), Arizona&#39;s Ellyn Baumgardner (59.38), Wisconsin&#39;s Ashley Wanland (59.57), Texas&#39; Laura Sogar (59.60) and LSU&#39;s Jane Trepp (59.67) also swam in the championship heat.<\/p>\n<p>Minnesota&#39;s Haley Spencer cleared 1:00 to win the B final in 59.92.  Florida&#39;s Hilda Luthersdottir (1:00.16), Stanford&#39;s Elizabeth Smith (1:00.48), Tennessee&#39;s Martina Moravcikova (1:00.49), Louisville&#39;s Therese Bergstrom (1:00.74), Penn State&#39;s Merritt Krawczyk (1:00.94), Toledo&#39;s Laura Lindsay (1:00.95) and South Carolina&#39;s Amanda Rutqvist (1:01.04) also competed in the small final. <\/p>\n<p>California remained in the lead with 222 points, while Southern California jumped into second with 215 points.
