She had been the No. 3 seed heading into finals but got out of the water after the butterfly leg.<\/p>\n<p>Swimming Canada tweeted that Pickrem is &#8220;fine,&#8221; but no further details have been released yet.<\/p>\n<div class=\"oembed-wrap\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Sydney is fine and working with Team Canada staff &amp; coaches. Thanks to all who have expressed concern.<\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Swimming Canada \/ Natation Canada (@SwimmingCanada) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SwimmingCanada\/status\/889541229662396416?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">July 24, 2017<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/div>\n<p>Swimming Canada is expected to release an update on the situation shortly, and\u00a0<em>Swimming World\u00a0<\/em>will update this story with any new information.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>UPDATE:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Swimming Canada released the following statement on why Pickrem stopped during the race and exited the pool,<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>&#8220;Canada had another finalist in Sydney Pickrem, who entered the 200-m individual medley as the No. 3 seed. Approaching the wall on the first turn, Pickrem took on water. Unfortunately it inhibited her to the point where she wasn\u2019t able to continue in the race.
