{"id":267414,"date":"2017-07-22T19:37:47","date_gmt":"2017-07-23T02:37:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=267414"},"modified":"2017-07-22T19:37:47","modified_gmt":"2017-07-23T02:37:47","slug":"gavin-olson-wins-100-back-on-night-three-at-mount-hood-sectionals","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/gavin-olson-wins-100-back-on-night-three-at-mount-hood-sectionals\/","title":{"rendered":"Gavin Olson Wins 100 Back On Night Three at Mount Hood Sectionals"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Speedo Sectionals at the Mount Hood Aquatic Center in Gresham, Oregon<\/p>\n<p>After <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/rhyan-white-dominates-200-back-on-opening-night-of-mount-hood-sectionals\/\" target=\"_blank\">dominating the 200 backstroke<\/a> on night one of the meet, Wasatch Front Fish Market&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Rhyan White\u00a0<\/strong>added a 100 backstroke gold with her 1:01.60.\u00a0A half second behind was 16 year old\u00a0<strong>Katharine Berkoff\u00a0<\/strong>of Missoula Aquatic Club with a 1:02.27.\u00a0<strong>Mara Newman\u00a0<\/strong>of Lake Oswego swam a 1:03.29 for third.<\/p>\n<p>The men&#8217;s 100 backstroke went to Foothills Swim Team&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Gavin Olson<\/strong>. The 16 year old stopped the clock in 57.48. Multnomah Athletic Club&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Rob Mead\u00a0<\/strong>finished .02 ahead of Jeffco Hurricanes&#8217;\u00a0<strong>Michael Zarian\u00a0<\/strong>as the two touched in 58.06 and 58.08 for second and third.<\/p>\n<p>An Unattached\u00a0<strong>Adriana Palomino\u00a0<\/strong>edged Scottsdale&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/hayley-hill-wins-tight-200-free-to-open-night-two-at-mount-hood-sectionals\/\" target=\"_blank\">200 freestyle champion<\/a>\u00a0<strong>Hayley Hill\u00a0<\/strong>4:17.64 to 4:17.82 to win the 400 freestyle.\u00a0<strong>Caitlyn Wilson\u00a0<\/strong>of Tualatin Hills was third (4:19.49).<\/p>\n<p>Flying Fish Arizona&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Isaac Stump\u00a0<\/strong>was the only swimmer under four minutes in the 400. Stump swam a 3:57.37. A pair of 4:03s- Swim Utah&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Brandon Shreeve\u00a0<\/strong>(4:03.54) and Montrose Marlins&#8217;\u00a0<strong>Ryan King\u00a0<\/strong>(4:03.83)- followed.<\/p>\n<p>The Dolphins Portland&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Kaitlyn Dobler\u00a0<\/strong>won the women&#8217;s 100 breaststroke in 1:10.85. University of Denver&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Bailey Andison\u00a0<\/strong>(1:11.31) and Lake Oswego&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Eleanor Jew\u00a0<\/strong>(1:11.39) had a close race for second.<\/p>\n<p>Portland Aquatic Club&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Joshua Bottelberghe\u00a0<\/strong>won the 100 breast for the men in 1:03.57.\u00a0<strong>Jonathan Zoucha\u00a0<\/strong>was runner up with a 1:04.40 and in third was Swim Utah&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Brody Lewis\u00a0<\/strong>(1:04.55).<\/p>\n<p>Mount Hood&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Jamie Stone\u00a0<\/strong>neared the minute barrier to win the women&#8217;s 100 fly. The 18 year old touched in 1:00.37.\u00a0<strong>Michelle Cefal\u00a0<\/strong>was second with her 1:01.36. Two tenths further back was\u00a0<strong>Katie Higgins\u00a0<\/strong>of Phoenix Swim Club in 1:01.54.<\/p>\n<p>Tualatin Hills&#8217;\u00a0<strong>Evan Carlson\u00a0<\/strong>posted a 54.19 to win the 100 butterfly.
