MANCHESTER, England, March 10. THE sixth day of swimming at the British Long Course National Championships produced even more top-10 ranked times including a pacesetter and a runner-up.<\/p>\n
James Goddard continued what has been a strong meet for the Stockport swimmer. Goddard clocked a world-best time of 1:57.08 in the men's 200 back. That swim cleared the 1:57s posted by Tyler Clary (1:57.31) and Ryan Lochte (1:57.63) to move into No. 1 in the rankings. Xavier Mohammed placed a distant second in 2:01.71, while Chris Walker-Hebborn wound up third in 2:01.94. <\/p>\n
Michael Jamieson closed down the evening with the second-ranked time in the world to win the men's 200 breast. Jamieson hit the wall in 2:10.42 to move just behind Yuta Suenaga's 2:10.28. Andrew Willis finished second in 2:11.13, while Kristopher Gilchrist placed third in 2:11.43 to move to third and fourth in the rankings.<\/p>\n
Fran Halsall touched out Amy Smith, 55.01 to 55.04, for the women's 100 free victory. The two times moved Halsall and Smith to eighth and ninth in the world rankings. Rebecca Turner completed the top three with a 55.86. <\/p>\n
Stacey Tadd captured the women's 200 breast crown in 2:28.99, just short of her ninth-ranked season best of 2:28.79 from the Duel in the Pool in February. Molly Renshaw placed second in 2:30.45, while Kate Hutchinson earned third in 2:31.96. <\/p>\n
Rachael Kelly led the first semifinal of the night with a 27.43 in the women's 50 fly. Sian Harkin (27.62) and Lucy Worrall (27.79) qualified second and third. Adam Brown turned in a 22.40 for the top seed in the men's 50 free semis to move to sixth in the world rankings. Simon Burnett qualified second in 22.63, while Owen Morgan (22.69) and Grant Turner (22.96) all went sub-23 to comprise the top four seeds.<\/p>\n
Michael Rock topped the men's 100 fly qualifying with a 52.88 to jump to sixth in the world rankings. Antony James qualified second in 53.50, while James Doolan nabbed third in 53.91. Stephanie Proud cruised to the top seed in the women's 200 back with a 2:11.26, while Rachel Lefley qualified second in 2:12.70. Karley Mann (2:12.71), Elizabeth Simmonds (2:14.05) and Gemma Spofforth (2:14.23) qualified third through fifth.<\/p>\n
