They were followed by today&#8217;s only medal event, women&#8217;s individual platform.<\/p>\n<p>On the men&#8217;s side, both of the divers for China, Great Britain, Mexico and Russia are headed into the final round. <strong>Cao Yuan<\/strong> from China,<strong> Jack Laugher<\/strong> from Great Britain and <strong>Rommel Pacheco Marrufo<\/strong> from Mexico are the leaders headed into tomorrow.<\/p>\n<p>American <strong>Mike Hixon<\/strong> finished in 20th in the preliminary rounds, while<strong> Steele Johnson<\/strong> finished in 18th place after semifinals. With the top divers 12 making the final cut, neither American will be moving on.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jun Hoong Cheong<\/strong> from Malaysia is the new World Champion on ten meter platform, coming out 1.5 points above <strong>Si Yajie<\/strong> from China. <strong>Ren Qian<\/strong>, also from China, finished in the bronze medal position, only 5.55 points behind Cheong.<\/p>\n<p>The close competition between the top three finishers left the women with no room for error. Ren, who was standing in first place was knocked down to second after her back three and a half tuck (207C). The dive was only awarded 6.5s from the judges, totaling 64.35 points. Her teammate Si later bumped her down to third place in the final round.<\/p>\n<p>Cheong answered with a reverse two and a half tuck (305C). The dive has a much lower degree of difficulty than a 207C, but Cheong performed it for 10s, earning her 82.6 points.<\/p>\n<p>While Cheong had a slightly less difficult list than her Chinese competitors, every one of her dives\u00a0scored above 75 points. That consistency helped her edge out the competition.<\/p>\n<p>American <strong>Jessica Parratto<\/strong> finished in 11th place.<\/p>\n<p>Tomorrow, the men&#8217;s competition on three meter will conclude with finals, while the women&#8217;s individual three meter competition begins.
