American Ashley Twichell<\/strong><\/a> won the Open Water 5k race at the 2017 FINA World Championships in Budapest by three and a half seconds.<\/p>\n

After winning the 10k at U.S. Open Water Nationals by more than a minute<\/a>, Twichell kept up her winning ways by defeating 10k Champion at these World Championships, France’s Aurelie Muller<\/a>. This is Twichell’s first individual World Championship Title, after winning gold in the 5k relay and bronze in this event at the 2011 World Championships in Shangahi.<\/p>\n
