The third-place result came after a physical photo finish, where\u00a0Great Britain\u2019s<strong>\u00a0Jack Burnell<\/strong> was disqualified after receiving his second yellow card of the day, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/ferry-weertman-wins-10k-open-water-gold-medal-in-stunning-photo-finish\/\" target=\"_blank\">giving Olivier the bronze<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>This time around, Olivier positioned himself to avoid such behavior. Get all the results live using FINA App! <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/FINABudapest2017?src=hash\">#FINABudapest2017<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/6g2Bg8G6WY\">pic.twitter.com\/6g2Bg8G6WY<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 FINA (@fina1908) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/fina1908\/status\/886138134253252608\">July 15, 2017<\/a>\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script src=\"\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" async=\"\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>The race was much less eventful at the finish than the 10k in Rio as Italy&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/anton-evsikov-arianna-bridi-win-10ks-at-world-university-games\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Mario Sanzullo<\/strong><\/a> claimed runner-up honors in 54:32.10.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/jack-burnell-among-british-open-water-swimmers-headed-to-world-champs\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Tim Shuttleworth<\/strong><\/a>, teammate to Burnell, earned third place in 54:42.10.<\/p>\n<p>Russia&#8217;s <strong>Kirill Abrosimov<\/strong> was among the leaders finishing fourth in 54:45.90. He was followed by four swimmers who all raced in 54 minutes and 47 seconds. Brazil&#8217;s <strong>Fernando Ponte<\/strong> won the battle in 54:47.10 followed by Italy&#8217;s <strong>Andrea Manzi<\/strong> and Hungary&#8217;s <strong>Kristof Rasovszky<\/strong> in 54:47.60.\u00a0<strong>Logan Fontaine<\/strong> of France took eighth in 54:47.90.<\/p>\n<p>Chad Ho of South Africa, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/chad-ho-wins-south-africas-1st-mens-5k-open-water-world-title-at-2015-fina-world-championships\/\" target=\"_blank\">who won this event in 2015<\/a>, finished eleventh (54:48.60).
