Today, the preliminary rounds of\u00a0men’s and women’s one meter took place, marking the start of\u00a0events at the Swimming and Diving World Championships.<\/p>\n
Chinese men Peng Jianfeng<\/strong> and He Chao<\/strong> are standing in first and second place. They are trailed by Giovanni Tocci<\/strong> from Italy, Patrick Hausding<\/strong> of Germany, and American Mike Hixon<\/strong> in fifth place.<\/p>\n British divers Ross Haslam<\/strong> and James Heatly<\/strong> finished in seventh and eight place respectively. While fan favorite American Steele Johnson<\/strong>, typically known for 10m platform, is standing in twelfth place.<\/p>\n Notably, both Chinese men scored a massive 81.6 points on their inward two and a halves pike (405B). They received eights across the board from the judges on the dive, which combined with the massive 3.4 degree of difficulty (DD) lead to the highest score on an individual dive at the meet so far.<\/p>\n Of the 51 male competitors, the top twelve divers will move onto the final round on July 16th.<\/p>\n After the men, 42 women competed for the coveted 12 finals spots.\u00a0Maddison Keeney<\/strong> from Australia is leading the pack. Keeney is trailed by Chen Yiwen<\/strong> from China, Malaysia’s Jun Hoong Cheong<\/strong> and Elena Bertocchi<\/strong> from Italy. The top four women are all within 20 points of each other.<\/p>\n Keeney showed off a strong and consistent list, leading for the final three rounds. The Australian diver brought an extremely difficult list to Budapest. Four of her five dives have DDs over 3.0, including an inward two and a half tuck (405C) and a full twisting two and a half pike (5152B). Still, with no dives over a 2.6 DD, Chen is only 6.6 points behind her.<\/p>\n Neither of the American women will be moving on to the finals.
