Dr. Jane Katz<\/strong> first competed in the Maccabiah Games when she was 14 years old in 1957. Now 74, she is back in Israel for this year’s edition of the Games, and she’s already had success.<\/p>\n

Katz, known as the ‘Satchel Paige of swimming,”\u00a0won 13 medals (11 individual plus two relay) in the Masters category at the 2013 Maccabiah Games and has already added gold medals in both the 200 free and 100 back at the 2017 edition of the meet, along with silvers in the 50 free and 200 breast.<\/p>\n

Katz competed on the U.S. synchronized swimming team at the 1964 Olympics, and in the years since she has gone on to publish books about swimming and to teach at John Jay College in New York City. She is also a member of the National Jewish Sports Hall of Fame and the International Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
