IOWA CITY, Iowa, February 17. MINNESOTA remains in first place heading into the final day of the Big Ten Championships in Iowa City, Iowa. Through 14 events, the Gophers have recorded 456 points. Indiana sits in second with 416 points, with Ohio State in third with 401 points. Wisconsin is fourth with 289 points, while Penn State rounds out the top-five with 260.5 points.<\/p>\n
Penn State's team of Paige Whitmire, Merritt Krawczyk, Mackenzie Powers and Samantha Palser took home the 400 medley relay with a time of 3:33.50. Indiana's Allysa Vavra placed first in the 400 individual medley with an NCAA automatic qualifying time of 4:01.41. The Nittany Lions' Powers also took home the 100 butterfly title with a time of 52.25. Minnesota's Hannah Whitehead placed first in the 200 freestyle (1:45.77), while teammate Tess Behrens recorded an automatic qualifying time in the 100 backstroke (52.35). Wisconsin's Ashley Wanland also recorded an automatic qualifying in the 100 breaststroke, claiming the title with a time of 59.17. In the diving well, Bianca Alvarez won the three-meter event with a score of 410.65.<\/p>\n
Action continues on Saturday with a preliminary session set for 11 a.m. CT to be followed by finals at 6:30 p.m.<\/p>\n
