Last summer, he beat his childhood hero in the men\u2019s 100 butterfly on the world\u2019s grandest stage, the Olympics. Now he wants to break Phelps\u2019 world record. Can this swimmer from Singapore become the next greatest butterflyer of all time?<\/p>\n<p>On the night of Aug. 12, 2016, Joseph Schooling\u2019s life changed. The then-21-year-old from Singapore out-dueled the greatest swimmer of all-time and two others who ranked among the best of their generation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was, basically&#8230;since I was a little kid&#8230;everything playing in my head&#8230;in fast-forward for 10 to 15 minutes,\u201d Schooling recalled. \u201cIt was really emotional. I\u2019ve never gotten like that before. You think about all the hard work and all the ups and downs you\u2019ve gone through to get to this point.
