Barelli\u2019s case accused FINA of conflicts of interest within high offices of the organization\u2019s governance. Specifically, the case name <\/span><b>Husain Al-Musallam <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and <\/span><b>Dale Neuberger <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">as violators of FINA\u2019s Code of Ethics. Italian breaststroker <\/span><b>Nicolo\u2019 Martinenghi <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">continued to drop the World Junior Record and Italian National Record in the men\u2019s 100 breaststroke, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/nicolo-martinenghi-lowers-own-100-breast-world-junior-record\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">taking the record even lower to 59.23<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Martinenghi had just lowered that record back at the Sette Colli International at the end of June, establishing what was the old record of 59.31. That is the third time the 16-year-old has lowered the World Junior Record in the 100 breast in 2017. Martinenghi was also part of the Italian squad that downed the World Junior Record in the 400 medley relay (3:35.24). Hungary&#8217;s <strong>Kristof Milak\u00a0<\/strong>broke a World Junior Record in the men&#8217;s 200 fly, where <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/kristof-milak-eclipses-200-fly-world-jr-euro-jr-meet-records-at-euro-jr-champs\/\" target=\"_blank\">his time of 1:53.79 crushed the previous mark of 1:55.82<\/a>.\u00a0Moldova\u2019s <\/span><b>Alexei Sancov <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">joined in the record breaking on the final night,<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">taking down <\/span><b>Maxine Rooney\u2019s <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">World Junior Record in the 200 free (1:47.00). UC-San Diego competes in Division II but is currently in the process of switching to Division I. Marsh was previously the head coach of SwimMAC for the better part of the last ten years in Charlotte, North Carolina, before <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/david-marsh-officially-splits-with-swimmac\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">officially splitting with the team earlier this year<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. While Marsh was still the head coach of Team Elite,\u00a0Marsh explained that he plans to start another professional team in San Diego while Team Elite will remain in Charlotte. Marsh will officially start with the UCSD Tritons on July 15. Back in May, Wright State\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/wright-state-university-cuts-swimming-as-cost-cutting-measure\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">abruptly announced that their programs would be cut<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, shortly after similar news at the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/university-of-buffalo-to-cut-mens-swimming-and-diving-at-end-of-spring-season\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">University of Buffalo<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/university-of-north-dakota-cuts-swimming-and-diving-program-amid-budget-cuts\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">University of North Dakota<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. With help from the College Swim Coaches Association of America (CSCAA), Wright State was able to put together a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/wright-state-announces-fundraising-plan-to-save-swim-teams\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">fundraising plan<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to save the program, with an ultimate goal of raising $85,000 to save the men\u2019s and women\u2019s programs. Bick<\/p><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The 2017 Phillips 66 U.S. National Championships came to a close this weekend, with many storylines emerging as we head into the new quad. <\/span><b>Katie Ledecky <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">was again dominant, winning the 200, 400 and 800 all in the fastest times in the world for 2017 while also earning a berth as part of the 400 free relay. <\/span><b>Mallory Comerford <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">unseated <\/span><b>Simone Manuel <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">with a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/mallory-comerford-nathan-adrian-are-the-stars-of-the-night-at-phillips-66-nationals\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">new U.S. Open record in the 100 free<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (52.81), while veteran <\/span><b>Nathan Adrian <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">came out on top by .01 in the 100 free and <\/span><b>Matt Grevers <\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/one-year-later-matt-grevers-redeems-himself-and-smiles\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">got redemption by winning the 100 back<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> after missing the Olympic Team last summer. Two American records went down in Indy: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/lilly-king-breaks-american-record-in-50-breast-at-nationals\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Lilly King\u00a0<\/strong>in the the women&#8217;s 50 breast (29.66)<\/a> and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/kevin-cordes-smashes-american-record-in-100-breast-at-nationals\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Kevin Cordes\u00a0<\/strong>in the men&#8217;s 100 breast (58.74)<\/a>. The\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/caeleb-dressel-leah-smith-earn-high-point-awards-at-phillips-66-nationals\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">two high point award winners<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of the meet were <\/span><b>Leah Smith <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(91 points) and <\/span><b>Caeleb Dressel <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(90 points), and both will be heading to Budapest with full event schedules. Smith is slated to compete in six events, including the 200 through 1500 freestyles, the 400 IM and the 800 free relay. Dressel, for his part, has the chance to compete in up to a staggering nine events at Worlds, as he is slated to compete in the 50 and 100 free, 50 and 100 fly, as well as all three men\u2019s relays with the potential for berths on the two mixed relays as well.
