The World Junior Record holder in this event, Martinenghi cruised to an easy first place seed of 27.37, close to a full second ahead of the field.<\/p>\n<p>Russia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Evgenii Somov<\/strong> grabbed the second place seed with a strong 28.29, followed by Italy&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Alessandro Pinzuit<\/strong> and his time of 28.55.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Juri Dijkstra<\/strong> of the Netherlands added a fourth place seed time of 28.60, just ahead of Great Britain&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Lewis Fraser&#8217;s\u00a0<\/strong>28.69.<\/p>\n<p>Austria&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Valentin Bayer<\/strong> (28.72), Ukraine&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Mykyta Pomazan<\/strong> (28.75), and Great Britain&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Oliver Crosby<\/strong> (28.78) rounded out the top eight who will compete in the final heat later tonight.<\/p>\n<h3>Women&#8217;s 50 Back\u00a0Semi-Final<\/h3>\n<p>The Russian duo of\u00a0<strong>Daria Vaskina<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>Polina Egorova<\/strong> led the charge in the semi-finals of the women&#8217;s 50 back. Vaskina delivered the top time of the semi-finals at a 28.18, tying fellow countrywoman\u00a0<strong>Daria Ustinova<\/strong><strong>&#8216;s<\/strong> 2014 record. Egorova picked up the second place seed with a time of 28.18.<\/p>\n<p>Italy&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Tania Quaglieri<\/strong> grabbed the third place seed with a time of 28.70, followed by a tie for fourth between Denmark&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Julie Kepp Jensen<\/strong> and Italy&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Constanza Cocconcelli.\u00a0<\/strong>The two posted matching times of 28.89.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Anastasiya Shkurdai<\/strong> of Belarus finished sixth overall in semi-finals with a time of 28.95, while France&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Mathilde Jean<\/strong> was seventh with a 29.04.<\/p>\n<p>Belgium&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Jade Smits<\/strong> completed the top eight with a time of 29.10.<\/p>\n<h3>Men&#8217;s 200 Fly FINAL<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Kristaf Milak\u00a0<\/strong>of Hungary topped the competition in the men&#8217;s 200 fly in record-breaking fashion. Milak&#8217;s time of 1:53.79 tore down the previous World Junior, European Junior, and Championship Records.<\/p>\n<p>Italy&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Federico Burdisso<\/strong> finished second overall with a time of 1:57.83, followed by Ukraine&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Denys Kesil<\/strong> and his time of 1:58.19.<\/p>\n<p>Russian teammates\u00a0<strong>Petr Zhikarev<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>Dmitry Popov<\/strong> posted fourth and fifth place finishes of 1:58.25 and 1:59.04 respectively.<\/p>\n<p>Norway&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Tomoe Zenimoto Hvas<\/strong> (1:59.11), Austria&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Xaver Gschwentner<\/strong> (2:00.46), and Switzerland&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Noe Ponti<\/strong> (2:00.56) completed the top eight.<\/p>\n<h3>Women&#8217;s 200 Free Semi-Final<\/h3>\n<p>Russia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Irina Krivonogova<\/strong> topped the women&#8217;s 200 free semi-finals competition with a 1:58.62 showing. Her time puts her under one second away from the championship record of 1:57.96.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Valentine Dumont<\/strong> of Belgium secured the second place seed with a time of 1:58.94, followed closely by a tie for third between Hungary&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Anja Kesely<\/strong> and Italy&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Annachiara Mascolo<\/strong>. The two delivered matching times of 1:59.99 from separate heats.<\/p>\n<p>Russia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Anastasiia Kirpichnikova<\/strong> finished fifth in semi-finals with a time of 2:00.20, just ahead of the Czech Republic&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Barbora Seemanova&#8217;s\u00a0<\/strong>2:00.53.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Esther Morillo Lopez<\/strong> of Spain and\u00a0<strong>Janja Segel<\/strong> of Slovenia were seventh and eighth with times of 2:00.57 and 2:01.28 respectively.<\/p>\n<h3>Men&#8217;s 200 Back Semi-Final<\/h3>\n<p>The Russian duo of\u00a0<strong>Kliment Kolesnikov<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>Nikita Tretyakov<\/strong> led the competition in semi-finals of the men&#8217;s 200 back. Kolesnikov turned in the top time of the evening with a 1:59.10, followed closely by Tretyakov&#8217;s 1:59.61.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tomas Ludvik<\/strong> of the Czech Republic picked up the third place seed with a time of 1:59.80, making him the only other athlete to post a sub-two minute swim.<\/p>\n<p>Romania&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Daniel Cristian Martin<\/strong> took fourth in semi-finals with time of 2:00.23, while Spain&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Manuel Martos Bacarizo<\/strong> was fifth with a 2:01.76.<\/p>\n<p>Greece&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Panagiotis Bolanos<\/strong> (2:01.91), Italy&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Johannes Calloni<\/strong> (2:02.19), and Slovenia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Anze Fers<\/strong> (2:02.87) rounded out the top eight qualifiers.<\/p>\n<h3>Women&#8217;s 200 Breast FINAL<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Layla Black<\/strong> of Great Britain grabbed a narrow victory in finals of the women&#8217;s 200 breast. Black battled from behind to catch Ireland&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Mona McSharry<\/strong> and pass her in the final 50 meters, finishing first with a time of 2:27.31.<\/p>\n<p>McSharry claimed the silver medal with a time of 2:27.44, a time which also stands as a new Irish National Record, downing\u00a0<strong>Fiona Doyle&#8217;s\u00a0<\/strong>2:28.75 from 2016.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Hannah Brunzell<\/strong> of Sweden rounded out the podium with a third place finish of 2:29.36, while Spain&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Laia Marti Fernandez<\/strong> was fourth with a 2:30.01.<\/p>\n<p>Russia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Alena Chekhovskikh<\/strong> took fifth with a time of 2:30.20, just ahead of Poland&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Weronika Hallmann&#8217;s<\/strong> 2:30.44.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tereza Muselova<\/strong> of the Czech Republic and\u00a0<strong>Anna Pirovano<\/strong> of Italy finished seventh and eighth with times of 2:31.59 and 2:32.92.<\/p>\n<h3>Men&#8217;s 100 Free FINAL<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Nandor Nemeth<\/strong> of Hungary topped the competition in the men&#8217;s 100 free final, posting the only sub-49 second swim at a 48.82. Nemeth&#8217;s time landed just off the Championship Record of 48.48 set in 2009 by Russia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Daniil Izotov<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Moldova&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Alexei Sancov<\/strong> grabbed the silver medal with a time of 49.01, while Poland&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Jakub Kraska<\/strong> finished third overall with a 49.35.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Nyls Korstanje<\/strong> of the Netherlands and\u00a0<strong>Bartosz Piszczorowicz<\/strong> of Poland posted close times of 49.64 and 49.65 for fourth and fifth respectively.<\/p>\n<p>Russia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Ivan Girev<\/strong> (49.84), France&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Maxime Grousset<\/strong> (49.85), and Russia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Vladimir Dubinin<\/strong> (50.05) were sixth through eighth.<\/p>\n<h3>Women&#8217;s 100 Fly Semi-Final<\/h3>\n<p>Denmark&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Katrine Bukh Villesen<\/strong> led a quad of athletes beneath the one minute mark in semi-finals of the women&#8217;s 100 fly. Villesen posted the fastest time of semi-finals at a 59.15 for the top seed.<\/p>\n<p>Russia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Polina Egorova<\/strong> turned in a second place seed time of 59.41, just ahead of Great Britain&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Ciara Schlosshan&#8217;s<\/strong> 59.55.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sara Junevik<\/strong> of Sweden grabbed the fourth place seed with a time of 59.83 to be the only other athlete beneath the one-minute mark.<\/p>\n<p>Russia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Sofya Lobova<\/strong> posted a time of 1:00.10 to qualify fifth, followed by Hungary&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Petra Barocsai<\/strong> and her time of 1:00.22.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Hanna Rosvall<\/strong> of Sweden and\u00a0<strong>Isabel\u00a0<\/strong><b>Spinley<\/b> of Great Britain qualified seventh and eighth with times of 1:00.22 and 1:00.37.<\/p>\n<h3>Men&#8217;s 200 IM FINAL<\/h3>\n<p>Great Britain&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Thomas Dean<\/strong> claimed victory in the men&#8217;s 200 IM final with a 2:01.02, but not without a small comeback story. Dean turned fourth at the 100-meter mark, but delivered a dominating 50 meters of breaststroke to move to first and take command on the lead.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Marton Barta<\/strong> of Hungary took second overall with a time of 2:01.82, while\u00a0<strong>James\u00a0<\/strong><b>Mcfadden<\/b> of Great Britain finished third overall with a time of 2:02.67.<\/p>\n<p>Hungarian\u00a0<strong>Balazs Hollo<\/strong> and Italian\u00a0<strong>Alberto Razzeti<\/strong> delivered matching times of 2:02.96 to tie for fourth in finals.<\/p>\n<p>The Polish duo of\u00a0<strong>Marcel Wagrowski\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Dominik Bujak<\/strong> finished sixth and seventh with times of 2:03.24 and 2:03.57 respectively.<\/p>\n<p>Slovenia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>David Mihalic<\/strong> was eighth with a time of 2:06.08.<\/p>\n<h3>Women&#8217;s 50 Back FINAL<\/h3>\n<p>The Russian duo of\u00a0<strong>Daria Vaskina<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>Polina Egorova<\/strong> continued to reign over the women&#8217;s 50 back, earning the gold and silver medals respectively. Vaskina topped the competition with a time of 28.39, finishing just off her tied championship record of 28.18 from semi-finals, while Egorova was second with a 28.50.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tania Quaglieri<\/strong> finished third overall with a time of 28.62, while Denmark&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Julie Kepp Jensen<\/strong> took fourth with a 28.78.<\/p>\n<p>Italy&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Costanza Cocconcelli<\/strong> was fifth overall with a time of 28.92, followed by France&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Mathilde Jean<\/strong> and her time of 29.06.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Anastasiya Shkurdai<\/strong> of Belarus and\u00a0<strong>Jade Smits<\/strong> of Belgium were seventh and eighth with times of 29.22 and 29.35 respectively.<\/p>\n<h3>Men&#8217;s 50 Breast FINAL<\/h3>\n<p>It was the Italians who reigned over the men&#8217;s 50 breast final as\u00a0<strong>Nicolo&#8217; Martinenghi<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>Alessandro Pinzuti<\/strong> finished first and second. Martinenghi stopped the clock a shy .01 seconds off his own championship record of 27.23, set in prelims, while Pinzuti nabbed second with a 27.51.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Evgenii Somov<\/strong> of Russia picked up third place and the bronze medal with a time of 28.08, followed by a tie between Ukraine&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Mykyta Pomazan<\/strong> and Great Britain&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Lewis Fraser<\/strong>. The two delivered matching times of 28.42 for fourth place.<\/p>\n<p>The Netherlands&#8217;\u00a0<strong>Juri Dijkstra<\/strong> (28.61), Great Britain&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Oliver Crosby<\/strong> (28.72), and Austria&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Valentin Bayer<\/strong> (28.84) were sixth through eighth.<\/p>\n<h3>Women&#8217;s 1500 Free<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Anja Kesely<\/strong> of Hungary added her second distance free title to her name in record-breaking fashion. Kesely closed out day three with a new Championship Record in the women&#8217;s 1500 free. The distance star delivered a top showing of 16:11.25, obliterating the previous record of 16:20.80 set in 2016 by Portugal&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Tamila Holub<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Beatriz Cons G.
