NEW BRITAIN, Connecticut, January 29. THE Central Connecticut swimming and diving team defeated Wagner on Saturday afternoon at the Jack Suydam Natatorium. The Blue Devils cruised to a 109-101 victory, winning all 16 events on the day. Sophomore Taylor Friedmann won a pair of individual events and contributed to the Blue Devils 400 free relay team.<\/p>\n
Friedmann won the 200 and 500 free events before contributing to Central's winning team in the 400 free relay. Her 200 time of 1:52.02 was four and a half seconds faster than the second place finisher. In the 500 she posted a time of 4:58.24, her time was more than 13 seconds faster than the rest of the field.<\/p>\n
The Blue Devils 400 free relay time finished in a time of 3:40.43. The team consisted of Friedmann , junior Alex Czaplicki, sophomore Katie Lang and freshman Helene Neuhaus.<\/p>\n
Czaplicki also won a pair of events, finishing first in the 200 IM and the 200 backstroke. Her backstroke time was 2:06.02 and her IM time was 2:10.19, both marks beat the second place finisher by more than five seconds.<\/p>\n
Neuhaus won the 50 and 100 free events, posting a 25.01 in the 50 and a 54.66 in the 100. Kristina Gulia won the 100 (1:07.24) and 200 breaststroke(2:26.69). Lang won the 200 (2:09.01) and 100 butterfly (59.82). Allison Rasile won the 100 backstroke in 1:00.68, and Lauren O'Kelly won the 1000 free in 10:36.73.<\/p>\n
Junior Madison Vestergaard won both diving events for the Blue Devils with a 242.39 in the one-meter and a 220.12 score in the three-meter.<\/p>\n
The Blue Devil return to action in three weeks at the Northeast Conference Championships, the meet will be held at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.<\/p>\n
