LAUSANNE, Switzerland, January 27. CROATIA, Montenegro and Serbia remain unbeaten with nine points each after the third round of the European groups of the 2011 FINA Men's Water Polo World League. After the six games contested on January 25, Italy had its first loss while Greece won its first match. FYR Macedonia, Turkey and the Netherlands are the teams only with defeats.<\/p>\n
In Group A, Serbia continues its winning saga, easily defeating the local team in Barcelona 12-4. In Stuttgart, the match between Germany and FYR Macedonia finished with a tiny 7-6 advantage for the local team.<\/p>\n
In Group B, the clash between Russia and Montenegro in Volvograd ended with the victory of the visiting team in a score of 9-12. In Bucharest, Romania won in convincing fashion over Turkey, 10-4, enough to secure the second place of the group. It is the second triumph for the local team in the competition, after their win over Russia in the first round.<\/p>\n
Finally, in Group C, despite playing at home in Bari, the Italians could not do much against the Croatians, losing by 6-10. After two successful games in the initial rounds, the Italian squad now finds itself in a challenging position in the group. Indeed, Greece is back in the race, after a clean victory over the Dutch team in Athens, in a severe 11-4.<\/p>\n
