COLLEGEVILLE, Minnesota, January 21. COMPETING in the first event since the turn of the New Year on Friday, Jan. 21, the St. Cloud State University men's and women's swimming and diving squad cruised past nearby Saint John's University and the College of St. Benedict by scores of 208-86 (women) and 186-112 (men) on the campus of SJU.<\/p>\n
The SCSU women brought home top honors in 14 of the 16 events while the Husky men tabbed first place finishes in ten events.<\/p>\n
Junior Kirsten Koetter (Melrose) led the St. Cloud State women with individual victories in the 50 free (:24.40), 100 free (:53.99) and 50 fly (:27.18). Rookie sensation Napoleon Howell (Trinidad) continued his winning ways with first place marks in the 50 breast (:26.46) and the 100 breast (:58.94).<\/p>\n
St. Cloud State's divers shined on both boards this evening. Junior Allison Tracy (Minot, N.D.) and sophomore Chris White (Rochester) swept both boards for the Huskies. Tracy garnered scores of 411.60 on the 1-meter and 428.55 on the 3-meter while White carded first place finishes with 506.45 points on the 1-meter and 562.75 tallies on the 3-meter.<\/p>\n
Led by tenth-year head coach Jeff Hegle, the St. Cloud State men's and women's swimming and diving squads will partake in the All Saints Invite, hosted by the University of St. Thomas, tomorrow afternoon, Saturday, Jan. 22, on the campus of UST. Diving is slated to start at 10 a.m. while the swimming events will being at 1:00 p.m.<\/p>\n
