{"id":261301,"date":"2017-06-18T08:34:24","date_gmt":"2017-06-18T15:34:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=261301"},"modified":"2017-06-18T11:36:43","modified_gmt":"2017-06-18T18:36:43","slug":"jim-ritter-sets-masters-world-record-in-400-free","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/jim-ritter-sets-masters-world-record-in-400-free\/","title":{"rendered":"Jim Ritter Sets Masters World Record in 400 Free at 60: 4:37.58"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Jim Ritter<\/strong> of the\u00a0Columbus Sharks Masters Team out of Columbus, Ohio set a new Masters World Record in the 60-64 LCM 400 Free on June 17 with a time of 4:37.58.<\/p>\n<p>The swim, set at Miami University\u00a0(Ohio), makes Ritter the first man over the age of 60 to ever break the 4:40 barrier as the previous mark of 4:40.00 was set by <strong>Jim McConica<\/strong> of the Ventura County Masters.<\/p>\n<p>Ritter&#8217;s\u00a0400 this weekend sets his third USMS National Record. He\u00a0currently holds the USMS records\u00a0in the 60-64 LCM 200 free (2:09.08) and the SCM 400 free (4:34.24) as well.<\/p>\n<p>He is a six-time USMS All-American, earning his first title in 2001 in the 45-49 400 free. He also earned USMS All-Star honors in 2016.<\/p>\n<p>But\u00a0this was not the first World Record for the Ritter family. Jim&#8217;s son, <strong>Adam Ritter<\/strong>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/adam-ritter-breaks-second-oldest-masters-swimming-world-record-at-rowdy-gaines-masters-classic\/\" target=\"_blank\">set a 25-29 200 free record<\/a> of\u00a01:46.52 in 2013.
