Day three of the 2017 German National Championships continued with three swimmers moving into the top 20 world rankings for 2017. Most notably was\u00a0Franziska\u00a0Hentke’s<\/strong> dominating appearance in the women’s 200 fly, where she swam to first in the world rankings with a sizzling time of 2:06.18.<\/p>\n

Women’s 100 Breast<\/h3>\n

Vanessa Grimberg<\/strong> kickstarted day three finals with a close win over Jessica Steiger\u00a0<\/strong>in the women’s 100 breast. At the 50-meter mark, Grimberg held a lead of a slim .01 seconds, but was able to hold off the charging Steiger and finish first with a 1:07.80. Steiger took second overall with a time of 1:07.95.<\/p>\n

Michelle Lambert<\/strong> grabbed third\u00a0overall with a time of 1:09.52.<\/p>\n

Men’s 400 IM<\/h3>\n

Jacob Heidtmann<\/strong> cruised to victory in the men’s 400 IM finals, finishing close to two seconds ahead of the competition. Heidtmann, the national record holder in this event, touched with a final time of 4:15.87 for gold.<\/p>\n

Kevin Wedel<\/strong> finished second overall with a time of 4:17.55, followed by\u00a0Ramon Klenz’s<\/strong> 4:21.59.<\/p>\n

Women’s 100 Free<\/h3>\n

Nina Kost<\/strong> sprinted to the top of the podium in the women’s 100 free, stopping the clock at a top showing of 54.99.<\/p>\n

A swift second 50-meters from\u00a0Reva Foos<\/strong> concluded in a tie for second with\u00a0Anna Dietterle<\/strong>. The two shared the silver with matching times of 55.28.<\/p>\n

Men’s 100 Free<\/h3>\n

Damian Wierling<\/strong> turned in the top time in the men’s 100 free, finishing over half a second ahead of the competition. Wierling’s final time of 48.68 squeaks into the top 20 world rankings by tying him at 19th with\u00a0France’s\u00a0Jeremy Stravius<\/b> and Canada’s\u00a0Yuri Kisil<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Marius Kusch<\/strong> took second overall with a time of 49.25, followed by\u00a0Christoph\u00a0Hildebrandt’s\u00a0<\/strong>49.30.<\/p>\n

Women’s 200 Fly<\/h3>\n

Franziska Hentke<\/strong> threw down a monstrous 2:06.18 in finals of the women’s 200 fly, rocketing to first in the world rankings for 2017. Hentke’s time replaces Japan’s\u00a0Suzuka Hasegawa<\/strong> as the top time in the world by .11 seconds.<\/p>\n

Martina van Berkel<\/strong> picked up second overall with a time of 2:09.57, while\u00a0Julia Mrozinski<\/strong> was third with a 2:10.99.<\/p>\n

Men’s 200 Back<\/h3>\n

Christian Diener<\/strong> posted the top time in finals of the men’s 200 back at a 1:57.51. His time moves him into the top 20 world rankings for 2017, settling in at number 19.<\/p>\n

Andreas Wiesner<\/strong> finished second with a time of 1:59.75, making him the only other athlete to finish beneath the two minute mark.<\/p>\n

Marek Ulrich<\/strong> touched third overall with a time of 2:01.24.<\/p>\n

Women’s 200 IM<\/h3>\n

Maxine Wolters<\/strong> claimed gold in the women’s 200 IM, stopping the clock at a final time of 2:13.57.<\/p>\n

She was followed to the wall by\u00a0Franziska Weidner<\/strong> and\u00a0Juliane Reinhold<\/strong>, who rounded out the podium with times of 2:14.76 and 2:15.29.<\/p>\n

Women’s 50 Back<\/h3>\n

Laura Riedemann<\/strong> picked up a narrow victory in finals of the women’s 50 back, finishing first .06 seconds. Riedemann touched first with a time of 28.25, followed closely by\u00a0Johanna Roas<\/strong>‘ 28.31.<\/p>\n

Nadine Laemmler<\/strong> completed the podium with a time of 28.58.<\/p>\n

Men’s 50 Breast<\/h3>\n

Christian vom Lehn<\/strong> finished the session with a top showing in the men’s 50 breast. Vom Lehn turned in a 27.77 for the gold, followed by\u00a0Fabian Schwingenschlogl’s<\/strong> time of 27.95.<\/p>\n

Erik Steinhagen<\/strong> touched third overall with a time of 28.13.<\/p>\n
