While Michael Phelps\u00a0<\/strong>has taken on (and beaten)\u00a0his fair share of competitors\u00a0throughout his storied career, the Olympic legend apparently isn’t done making history. While we reported Phelps was set to participate in “Shark Week”\u00a0back in March<\/a>, in a story featured in\u00a0The Washington Post<\/a><\/em>\u00a0it was revealed\u00a0that Phelps plans to race a great white shark in this year’s week of programming\u00a0on the Discovery Channel.<\/p>\n

In a press release<\/a> from the Discovery Channel the cable channel reveals the segment will be titled “Phelps vs. Shark: Great Gold vs. Great White” and will feature Phelps at the\u00a0Bimini Shark Lab located in the Bahamas. While it is unclear how exactly Phelps will be racing the great white shark, those who tune in can expect to see researchers from the Shark Lab teaching Phelps about everything shark-related, including clearing up many common myths about predatory fish.<\/p>\n

Phelps himself posted a picture of a great white earlier this week on his Instagram account, saying he fulfilled a lifelong dream of diving with\u00a0a great white in\u00a0a shark cage.<\/p>\n
