{"id":260679,"date":"2017-06-14T08:41:46","date_gmt":"2017-06-14T15:41:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=260679"},"modified":"2017-06-14T08:41:46","modified_gmt":"2017-06-14T15:41:46","slug":"michael-phelps-to-receive-legends-award-at-kids-choice-sports-awards","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/michael-phelps-to-receive-legends-award-at-kids-choice-sports-awards\/","title":{"rendered":"Michael Phelps to Receive Legends Award at Kids&#8217; Choice Sports Awards"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>23-time Olympic gold medalist\u00a0<strong>Michael Phelps<\/strong> will be honored next month at the Kids&#8217; Choice Sports Awards, where he will receive the &#8220;Legends Award,&#8221; according to <em>The Hollywood Reporter<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Nickelodeon will present the award July 13, and the ceremony will air on that channel July 16.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I am a kid at heart so it really means a lot to me to be recognized by Nickelodeon with the Kids&#8217; Choice Sports Legend Award,&#8221; said Phelps. &#8220;I had a goal to do something that nobody had ever done before, and with a lot of hard work and dedication, I was able to turn my dream into a reality.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I want to encourage all kids to dream big, set goals, follow their passion and always remember that anything is possible if you put your mind to it,&#8221; Phelps said.<\/p>\n<p>Previous winners of the Legends Award include\u00a0<strong>Kobe Bryant<\/strong> (basketball),\u00a0<strong>David Beckham<\/strong> (soccer)\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Derek Jeter\u00a0<\/strong>(baseball).
