The Bentley University Swimming & Diving teams have announced their yearly awards, highlighted by Ryan McGeary<\/strong>, Kate Kaduboski<\/strong> and Emily Niemiec<\/strong> earning MVP honors.<\/p>\n

On the men’s side, the Falcons captured the Northeast-10 Conference championship for the second time in program history this year after posting a perfect 11-0 dual record. The women went 11-1 and finished third at the NE-10 meet.<\/p>\n

Just a sophomore, McGeary claimed\u00a0silver in the 200 yard freestyle, the 500 free, the 800 free relay and the 400 free relay at NE-10s. The six-foot-eight McGeary owns the school record in the 200 free (1:41.82) as well as three relays. During the dual season, he earned seven first-place finishes.<\/p>\n

Timothy Fay<\/strong>\u00a0was named\u00a0the team\u2019s Most Improved Player and the team\u2019s Scholar-Athlete Award went to co-captain Matt Ahlmeyer<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Fay\u2019s best times of the season came during exhibition swims at the conference championships where he swam the 200 free in 1:50.53, 4:56.59 in the 500 free and 17:08.18 in the 1650 free. All were improvements of at least six percent from his previous bests.<\/p>\n

Ahlmeyer, who graduated in May with a 3.7 GPA in information systems and control, finished his career eighth in program history in the 200 backstroke and tenth in the 200 butterfly. At the NE10 championships, his top finishes included 11th in the 200 back and 13th in the 400 individual medley.<\/p>\n

Ahlmeyer was also voted to the Academic All-Northeast-10 Conference team, as was sophomore\u00a0Frank Elenio <\/strong>who earned\u00a0bronze medals in the 200 fly, 200 IM and 400 IM at the conference championships. He owns the school records in both the 200 IM and the 200 fly, and had a GPA over 3.7 as an accountancy major.<\/p>\n

For the women, Kaduboski and Niemiec were awarded co-MVP honors for their efforts throughout the season.<\/p>\n

Niemiec\u2019s junior season was capped by her being named the Women\u2019s Swimmer of the Meet following the Northeast-10 Conference Championships. During that meet, she amassed 98.5 of a possible 104 points while placing first in the 200 yard breaststroke (for the third straight year), the 200 individual medley, the 400 IM and the 800 free relay (meet record 7:36.21). Niemiec will enter her senior year as the school record holder in four individual and two relay events.<\/p>\n

Kaduboski teamed with Niemiec on the winning 800 free relay and was also second in the NE10 Championships in the 200 IM, 200 back, 400 IM and 400 medley relay. Following her sophomore year, she owns the school record in the 50 backstroke and has been part of three relay teams that have achieved school records. Kaduboski has also excelled in the classroom, achieving a GPA over 3.5 as a corporate and finance major.<\/p>\n

Nicole Hellstern <\/strong>stole\u00a0the\u00a0Most Improved Swimmer honors, while\u00a0Anne Warren <\/strong>was\u00a0the team’s Scholar Athlete.<\/p>\n

Hellstern, who graduated\u00a0 last month, achieved new personal bests in three of the four events she swam during her senior year with times of 25.34 seconds in the 50 free, 55.23 in the 100 free and 1:00.25 in the 100 fly. At the NE10 Championships, she was 12th in the 100 fly, 14th in the 50 free and 15th in the 100 free.<\/p>\n

Warren, who owns a sparkling 3.87 GPA as a mathematics and business studies major, captured the conference championship in the 200 butterfly in 2:07.13 to cap off her junior season. An Academic All-Northeast-10 honoree for the second time, she ranks second in program history in the 200 fly and fourth in both the 100 fly and 100 IM.<\/p>\n

Kaduboski and Warren were also recently selected to the Academic All-Northeast-10 Conference team, as was Kaitlin McGahie<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

McGahie, also a recent graduate, gained Academic All-Northeast-10 honors for the third time after earning a GPA over 3.8 as a double-major (managerial economics-marketing, liberal studies). She was also a standout in the pool during her collegiate career, amassing 18 NE10 medals, including seven this past year. McGahie is Bentley\u2019s school record holder in the 50 free, the 100 IM and three relays, including the 800 free relay.<\/p>\n
