Bucknell Swimming & Diving has announced the addition of 18 athletes for the 2017-18 incoming class. Head Coach Dan Schinnerer<\/strong>‘s women’s team finished second at the ECAC Championships last season while the men finished fourth at the Patriot League Championships.<\/p>\n

The Bison men have never finished lower than fourth at the Patriot League Championships and return Chris Devlin<\/strong>, a two-time Swimmer of the Meet, for next season. The Bucknell women will return all four of their All-Patriot League honorees from last season.<\/p>\n

Bucknell Swimming & Diving Men’s Recruiting Class<\/h2>\n

LEWISBURG, Pa. \u2013<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong>Bucknell head coach\u00a0Dan Schinnerer\u00a0has announced the addition of eight newcomers to the Bucknell men’s swimming and diving team beginning with the 2017-18 season. The class represents six states \u2013 Pennsylvania (2), Virginia (2), Illinois, Kentucky, New Jersey, and Ohio.<\/p>\n

“We are definitely pleased with the Class of 2021,\u201d Schinnerer said. \u201cThe group of young men will provide our program with depth and quality in a number of events.\u00a0They have the capability of making contributions right away which is what we need in order to replace the talented senior class that we just graduated.”

\nKevin Adams-Mardi (Alexandria, Va.\/West Potomac) \u2013 Sprint Free, Breaststroke
\n<\/strong>Four-year letterwinner at West Potomac High School \u2026 twice named All-Met Honorable Mention by the Washington Post <\/em>\u2026 won the conference title in the 50 free and was the runner-up in the region \u2026 holds his school’s record in the 50 free \u2026 swam for the Mount Vernon Gators and holds the Division 2 pool records in 15-18 boys 50 free, 50 breast, 50 back, and 100 IM \u2026 also swam for Nation’s Capital Swim Club and qualified for Junior Nationals, NCAP Invitational, and Speedo Futures \u2026 son of Jay Mardi and Melanie Adams \u2026 one older brother, Cyrus.<\/p>\n

Kevin Flynn (Watchung, N.J.\/Watchung Hills Regional) — Backstroke
\n<\/strong>Conference runner-up in the 100 back at Watchung Hills Regional High School \u2026 qualified for the 2015 Meet of Champions \u2026 swam for Berkeley Aquatic Club \u2026 two-time Junior National qualifier \u2026 competed in the 2015 Futures Championships \u2026 LCM club record holder in the \u201copen\u201d 400 medley relay and the 15-16 200 back \u2026 son of Dennis and Christine Flynn \u2026 two older brothers, Brendan and Dylan, and one younger brother, Sean.<\/p>\n

Mitch Gavars (Barrington, Ill.\/Barrington) \u2013 Distance Free
\n<\/strong>Four-year letterwinner and two-year team captain at Barrington High School \u2026 four conference titles (200 free, 500 free) \u2026 two sectional titles (500 free) \u2026 two-time USA Swimming Junior National qualifier \u2026 three-time USA Swimming Academic All-American \u2026 part of the school record 200 medley relay \u2026 team was two-time section champions \u2026 two-time all-state in water polo, helping team advance to the state tournament twice, win two section titles, and two conference titles \u2026 son of Butch Gavars \u2026 one older sister, Samantha.<\/p>\n

Jacob Lubinski (Ivyland, Pa.\/La Salle College) \u2013 Fly, Free, Back
\n<\/strong>Four-year letterwinner and one-year captain at La Salle College High School \u2026 three-time all-state in Pennsylvania \u2026 seven-time PA state medalist \u2026 four-time All-Philadelphia Catholic League \u2026 five-time District XII champion (100 fly and 100 back) \u2026 four-time High School All-American and USA Swimming Scholastic All-American \u2026 on the school record holding 400 free relay \u2026 team was the 2016 Swimming World High School national champions \u2026 team won three state titles, four District XII titles, and four Philadelphia Catholic League titles \u2026 team has now won 29 straight Philadelphia Catholic League titles \u2026 swam for the Eastern Express Swim Team and qualified for the Winter and the Summer Junior Nationals \u2026 son of Stuart and Kristin Lubinski \u2026 has one younger sister, Emily, and one younger brother, Noah \u2026 cousin, Christopher Gabryluk ’09, competed on the Bucknell track and field team.<\/p>\n

Nico Pagni (Louisville, Ky.\/duPont Manual) \u2013 Breaststroke, IM, Fly
\n<\/strong>Four-year letterwinner and one-year team captain at duPont Manual High School \u2026 two-time Academic All-State \u2026 team placed fourth in the state in Kentucky \u2026 swam for the Lakeside Seahawks and the Big Spring Country Club Swim Team \u2026 also lettered in soccer \u2026 son of Sebastian Pagni and Jennifer Pagni \u2026 two younger siblings, Emma and Pilar.<\/p>\n

Matt Rakovec (Parma Heights, Ohio\/Hawken School) \u2013 IM, Freestyle
\n<\/strong>Team captain at Hawken School \u2026 Academic All-American \u2026 holds school record in the 200 IM \u2026 team went 11-1 and won state, district, and sectional titles \u2026 swam for the Lake Erie Silver Dolphins \u2026 son of Kurt and Cathie Rakovec \u2026 has one older sister, Maureen, who is on the swim team at Columbia \u2026 father played football at Dayton.<\/p>\n

Nate Romanowski (Nokesville, Va.\/Brentsville District) \u2013 Freestyle, Fly
\n<\/strong>Four-year letterwinner and two-year captain at Brentsville District High School \u2026 four-time all- state in Virginia \u2026 named team’s Most Valuable Swimmer three times \u2026 set school records in the 200 free and 100 fly \u2026 team placed third in the state in 2017 and fourth in 2016 \u2026 team won 2017 regional title \u2026 swam for NCAP West and qualified for Junior Nationals and the Futures Championships \u2026 son of Michael Romanowski and Abigail Romanowski \u2026 one older brother, Aaron \u2026 mother swam at Princeton.<\/p>\n

Garrett Sommer (York, Pa.\/Central York) — Diving
\n<\/strong>Four-year letterwinner and two-year captain as a diver at Central York High School \u2026 state semifinalist in Pennsylvania \u2026 two-time county champion \u2026 two-time district placewinner \u2026 two-year member of the YAIAA All-Star Team \u2026 school record holder \u2026 won the 2017 YAIAA County title \u2026 Scholastic Academic All-American \u2026 competed for the ACWS Soaring Eagle Dive Club and the Flip & Rip Dive Club \u2026 also a member of the school marching band \u2026 son of Gregory and Karin Sommer \u2026 one younger sister, Mikayla.<\/p>\n

Bucknell Swimming & Diving Women’s Recruiting Class<\/h2>\n

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell head coach\u00a0Dan Schinnerer\u00a0has announced the addition of 10 newcomers to the Bison women’s swimming and diving team beginning with the 2017-18 season. The class represents six states \u2013 Pennsylvania (4), New Jersey (2), Connecticut, Illinois, Massachusetts, and New York.<\/p>\n

“We are very pleased with the Class of 2021,\u201d Schinnerer said. “This group of talented young women will make an immediate impact on our team. The class has both depth and quality in it. We expect them to make major contributions towards our short-term and long-term goals.”

\nKelly Cattano (Darien, Conn.\/King School) \u2013 Freestyle, IM
\n<\/strong>five-year member of the Chelsea Piers Aquatic Club\u2026 first girl in program to break five minutes in 500 free \u2026 recipient of the Coach’s Award and Attendance Award from 2012-17 \u2026 also swam for Westchester CC and holds the county 200 free relay (15-18) record along with current Bucknell swimmer Libby O’Hare \u2026 born in London, England \u2026 daughter of Michael (’89) and Molly\u00a0Cattano<\/span>\u2026 one older sister, Sarah (’18) and one younger brother, Brett.<\/p>\n

Palma Foschi-Walko (Osterville, Mass.\/St. John Paul II) \u2013 Freestyle, IM, Breaststroke

\n<\/strong>Four-year letterwinner and one-year captain at Chatham High School \u2026 four-time first team all-county \u2026 two-time team MVP \u2026 Canadian national qualifier in the 400 free and 800 free \u2026 Scholastic All-American \u2026 holds school records in the 50 free and 100 fly \u2026 part of school record 200 free relay, 400 free relay, and 200 medley relay \u2026 team won three state titles, four county titles, and four section titles \u2026 for club team, holds seven individual short course records and seven individual long course records \u2026 daughter of Susan Gorham and Stephen Gorham \u2026 has one older sister, Jess, who is on the swim team at Vermont.<\/p>\n

Mia Haggerty (Kenilworth, Ill.\/New Trier Township) — Freestyle
\n<\/strong>Letterwinner at New Trier Township High School \u2026 all-state in Illinois \u2026 All-American \u2026 holds two freshman relay records \u2026 team won state, conference, and sectional titles \u2026 NSCA qualifier while swimming for New Trier Swim Club \u2026 born in Hong Kong \u2026 daughter of Steve and Elleke Haggerty \u2026 has one older sibling, Anneke, and two younger siblings, Ryan and Kiera.<\/p>\n

Rachel Hazard (West Chester, Pa.\/Henderson) \u2013 Freestyle, Fly
\n<\/strong>Four-year letterwinner and one-year captain at Henderson High School \u2026 named All-American in 2014 and 2016 \u2026 all-state in Pennsylvania in 2014 and 2016 \u2026 holds high school records in the 100 fly, 200 medley relay, 200 free relay, and 400 free relay \u2026 team went undefeated and won the league title in 2014 \u2026 team was 30-4 in her four seasons \u2026 swam for Golden Ram Aquatics \u2026 also a two-year letterwinner in lacrosse \u2026 daughter of John and Eileen Hazard \u2026 one older sister, Lauren, who is on the swim team at Lafayette, and one younger brother, Andrew<\/p>\n

Megan Koczur (West Chester, Pa.\/West Chester Bayard Rustin) \u2013 Sprint Free, Back
\n<\/strong>Four-year letterwinner and one-year captain at West Chester Bayard Rustin High School \u2026 named all-state in Pennsylvania as a junior \u2026 two-time team MVP \u2026 finished in the top 10 in the state in the 100 back \u2026 placed in the top seven in the district in the 100 back and 50 free \u2026 swam for the Westtown Aquatics Program \u2026 spends free time doing charitable work, including giving swim lessons to people with disabilities and an annual toy drive with the DuPont Hospital for Children \u2026 daughter of Joe and Liz Koczur \u2026 one younger sister, Erin.<\/p>\n

Amanda Lauer (Upper Saddle River, N.J.\/Immaculate Heart Academy) \u2013 Distance Free
