According to a press release<\/a> put out my Medibio<\/a>, an evidence-based medical technology company located in Australia, Michael Phelps\u00a0<\/strong>has been added to the organization’s Board of Directors.<\/p>\n

Medibio most recently developed an objective test that will\u00a0assist in the diagnosis of depression, chronic stress and other mental health disorders. The test is conducted via a heart monitor sending information to a computer which uses an algorithm to objectively quantify and characterize mental illness.<\/p>\n

As an avid supporter and promoter of mental health<\/a>, Phelps has been named to the Board after using the technology himself. He stated that the ease and objectivity associated with the test will make it useful for people everywhere because mental health is a difficult subject for people to discuss.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am honored to accept this appointment because I have personally experienced Medibio\u2019s technology and believe it can help make a profound impact in diagnosing mental health and empowering people to seek the help and support they may need,\u201d said Phelps. \u00a0\u201cIn sports, there is so much focus on the physical aspects of performance, and athletes are analyzed from head to toe.\u00a0 But for many athletes, mental health has not been a topic of focus, and the data analysis aspect of it has been missing up until now. \u00a0<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Additionally, Phelps’ agent and\u00a0Managing Director of Octagon\u2019s Olympic and Action Sports division, Peter Carlisle<\/strong>, has been appointed to an alternate Board member position. Carlisle brings an extra level of understanding and experience in this field to the company.<\/p>\n

According to the Australian<\/a>, Phelps’ prominence will help Medibio immensely. This will help the company push into the US mental health management market, not just that of Australia. The US market is valued at $200 billion, and Medibio wants to be a part of it.<\/p>\n

Additionally, the article stated that Phelps reached out to Medibio, not the reverse, in order to be a part of something “transformative.” While discussing the topic and making people aware is important, Phelps said he wants to do more.<\/p>\n

\u201cI want to help others who are dealing with these challenges and make the process for them to take action easier and more understandable,” Phelps said.<\/p>\n
