ATLANTA, Georgia, December 10. GREAT Lakes' William Hamilton lowered a pair of meet records en route to a double during the second night of short course yard action at the U.S. Short Course Junior Nationals. Meanwhile, a pair of U.S. National Age Group records fell throughout the evening.<\/p>\n
Hamilton edged Nashville's Paul Davis, 47.32 to 47.34, in the men's 100 fly. They both bested the meet record of 47.52 set by John Wojciechowski last year. Dynamo's John Lane rounded out the podium with a third-place 48.23. <\/p>\n
Hamilton doubled up in the men's 200 free with a 1:36.20 for the win. That effort wiped out the 1:37.16 meet record set by Clay Youngquist last year. Peak's Tom Kremer also surpassed Youngquist's time with a second-place 1:36.41, while Markham snared third in 1:38.28. <\/p>\n
Loyola Blakefield's Tanya Kylliainen crushed the meet record in the women's 400 IM with a winning 4:09.66. That swim erased the 4:11.36 set by Amber McDermott in 2008. Team Florida's Lauren Driscoll also cleared the previous record with a second-place 4:11.08, while Crow Canyon's Taylor Nanfria earned third in 4:12.10. <\/p>\n
Metro's Carlos Omana touched out Swim Pasadena's Young Tae Seo, 3:47.60 to 3:47.74, in the men's 400 IM as both beat David Nolan's 2009 meet mark of 3:50.12. Greenwood Tiger's Jared Markham also bettered Nolan's record with a third-place 3:48.49. In the B final, Peak's Curtis Ogren, 14, set the U.S. National Age Group record in the 13-14 400 IM with a winning time of 3:54.23. That swim cleared the 3:55.01 set by Nick Silverthorn earlier this year. <\/p>\n
Sun Devil's Mary Olsen became the first sub-1:00 time in the meet's history in the women's 100 breast with a winning 59.81. She beat the 1:00.83 meet record set by Katie Edwards in 2008. Aquajets' Abigail Duncan clipped the previous record as well with a second-place 1:00.81. Brea's Gretchen Jaques placed third in 1:01.84. <\/p>\n
Corvallis' Jacob Pebley clocked a 47.62 to win the men's 100 back under the meet record of 47.88 set by Vlad Morozov in 2009. Bolles' Ryan Murphy finished second in 47.96, while Georgia Coastal's Preston Jenkins tied Radnor's Shane Ryan for third with matching 49.21s. <\/p>\n
Crimson's Rachel Moore won the women's 100 fly in 53.32, while Sandpipers' Olivia Barker wound up second in 54.03. City of Midland's Natalie Hinds captured third in 54.06. <\/p>\n
Longhorn's Quinn Carrozza, 14, cruised to victory in the women's 200 free with a 1:46.64. Hershey's Meaghan Raab, also 14, took second in 1:47.49, while Lindsay McKnight nabbed third in 1:48.08. <\/p>\n
Bolles' Sergio Lujan Rivera claimed the men's 100 breast crown in 55.21. Huntsville's Tyler Kaliszak touched second in 55.36, while SwimAtlanta's Richard Lehner pocketed third in 55.95. <\/p>\n
Michigan Lakeshore's Courtney Bartholomew captured the women's 100 back title in 52.64. Blue Tide's Jillian Vitarius took second in 53.45, while Dynamo's Kylie Stewart completed the podium with a third-place 53.74. <\/p>\n
Dynamo's Kylie Stewart, Jamie Christy, Nicole Stafford and Rachel Astles won the women's 200 medley relay in 1:42.00, while Michigan Lakeshore's Courtney Bartholomew, Shelby Lacy, Taylor Garcia and Haley Thompson touched second in 1:42.14. <\/p>\n
Bolles School's Ryan Murphy, Sergio Lujan Rivera, Joseph Schooling and Christopher Sadsad held off Dynamo's Matias Koski, Gunnar Bentz, John Lane and Evan Browning, 1:30.71 to 1:30.80, in the men's 200 medley relay. <\/p>\n
First Colony's Skylar Smith, Simone Manuel, Jordan Hancock and Madeline Locus topped the women's 800 free relay in a meet-record time of 7:19.73. That performance crushed the 2009 record of 7:22.20 set by Phoenix Swim Club. Team Florida's Damaris Iriondo, Lauren Driscoll, Rebecca Aiello and Harper Bruens also cleared the record with a second-place 7:21.28. <\/p>\n
Dynamo's Matias Koski, Eliott Brockelbank, John Lane and Evan Browning snagged the men's 800 free relay meet record in 6:38.56. The time kept the record in the hands of Dynamo, as the club set the previous mark of 6:41.97 last year. Bolles' Colin Hamilton, Teo D'Alessandro, Joseph Schooling and Ryan Murphy took second in 6:38.98, while Santa Clara's Michael Nunan, Samuel Shimomura, Stephen Shilling and Ian Burns posted a third-place 6:41.72 \u2013 both under the former record.
