DAVID Guthrie and Carolyn Boak each walked away from the South Central Regional Masters short course meters championships with four world records last weekend.<\/p>\n<p>Boak, 65 years old and representing The Woodlands Masters Swim Team, set four individual world records in the 65-69 age group. Two of the records she broke were held by Japan&#39;s Yoshiko Osaki. First, she claimed Osaki&#39;s record of 2:42.05 in the 200 freestyle with a 2:39.77. She closed out the meet with a 6:31.71 in the 400 IM to erase Osaki&#39;s seven-year-old record of 6:34.95. In between, Boak set a world record in the 400 freestyle with a 5:35.53, narrowly eclipsing Jen Thomassen&#39;s 5:35.92, and dipped under Clary Munns&#39; world record of 3:04.75 in the 200 IM with a 3:04.22.<\/p>\n<p>Guthrie set world records in all three breaststroke distances in the 50-54 age group. The 50 year-old started off by breaking his three-week-old record of 2:31.08 in the 200 breast with a 2:28.59. He then too down Glen Christiansen&#39;s year-old mark of 30.91 in the 50 breast with a 30.73. His final individual world record came in the 100 breast, where he shattered Benn Doyle&#39;s 2008 record of 1:08.27 with a 1:06.84.<\/p>\n<p>Guthrie also teamed up with Longhorn Aquatics teammates Ande Rasmussen, Jim Sauer and Max Stinchcombe to set a world record in the 400 medley relay for the 200-239 age group with a 4:11.46.
