MOSCOW, Idaho, November 13. THE Idaho Vandals came up short Saturday with a 136-106 loss to Northern Arizona University in a Western Athletic Conference meet at the UI swim center.<\/p>\n
"We came in ready and raced hard," coach Tom Jagar said. "We had new best times today but Northern Arizona is a great school and they came out and just had a better day."<\/p>\n
Kelsie Saxe had a personal best in the 200 IM with a time 2:09.15 – just .25 off the winning time of NAU's Fi Connell. Sammi Mischkot also a PR – hers in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 10:32.06, which was good enough for second.<\/p>\n
The Vandals won five of 13 events, with one-two finishes in the 100 free and 200 free. Alyson O'Brien bested teammate Megan Venlos to win the 100 free in with Venlos turning the tables and winning the 200 free with a time of 1:54.52. Si Jia Pang helped the Vandals complete the sweep of the sprint freestyle races by winning the 50 free with a time of 24.59. Idaho's other individual winner was Kelsie Saxe, who won the 200 breaststroke with a 2:25.35.<\/p>\n
Off the diving board, Paige Hunt took second in the 3-meter dive with a score of 245.55 and third in the 1-meter event.<\/p>\n
"The divers really stepped up today," said Jagar.<\/p>\n
The Vandals have a short break and then are off to Nevada to take on the Wolf Pack on Dec. 4.<\/p>\n
