Saint Francis Swimming has named three captains for the 2017-18 season. The trio will build off a fourth-place finish at the Northeast Conference Championships and an 11-8 dual meet record from last season. This was the most wins ever recorded by the program.<\/p>\n
The Red Flash won the NEC Championship Title in 1997, 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013.<\/p>\n
LORETTO, Pa. \u2013 <\/strong>The Saint Francis Swimming team, led by Head Coach Rory Coleman<\/strong>, has announced its team captains for the 2017-18 season.\u00a0 The Red Flash captains include seniors Katie Lafferty <\/strong>(Bremen, Ind.\/Bremen), Kasey Marks<\/strong> (Las Vegas, Nev.\/Bishop Gorman) and junior Rory O’Dell<\/strong> (Chapel Hill, N.C.\/Northwood).<\/p>\n Lafferty enters her second year as a team captain.\u00a0 The Indiana native earned three Top Four finishes at last year’s NEC Championships.\u00a0 She finished third in the 50-yard Freestyle, with a time of 23.37.\u00a0 That ranks as the second-best time in that event in program history.\u00a0 Lafferty was also fourth in the 100-yard and 200-yard Freestyle.\u00a0 She posted a time of 51.15 in the 100-yard Freestyle and a pace of 1:51.09 in the 200-yard Freestyle.<\/p>\n Marks competes in many long distance events for the Red Flash.\u00a0 She finished 14th in the 1,650-yard Freestyle at the NEC Championships, with a time of 18:07.56.\u00a0 She was also 16th in the 400-yard IM, with a time of 4:45.03.<\/p>\n O’Dell recently won the program’s Teammate of the Year award.\u00a0 She placed 10th in the 400-yard IM at the 2017 NEC Championships, with a time of 4:37.40.\u00a0 O’Dell has the fifth-best 200-yard Butterfly time in program history, 2:08.09, and the program’s eighth-best time in the 200-yard Backstroke, 2:07.45.<\/p>\n The Red Flash went 11-8 last season, setting a program wins record.\u00a0 Saint Francis won all three of its home meets and was 1-1 in NEC meets.
