CHARLOTTE, North Carolina, November 6. THE Wingate University women's swimming and diving team won a quad meet with Catawba College, Queens University of Charlotte and Savannah College of Art & Design at the Mecklenburg County Aquatic Center Friday and Saturday. The Bulldog men's swimming team defeated Catawba and Queens and dropped a heart-breaker to SCAD-Savannah.<\/p>\n
Bulldog freshmen Alexandra Andrechuk (Ajax, Ontario, Canada) and Beatrice Svensson (Lomma, Sweden) participated in two victories each Saturday, helping Wingate sweep the quad meet. Andrechuk touched first in the 400 Individual Medley (4:43.90). In last race of the day, Andrechuk teamed with Svensson and junior Malin Kersmark (Malin-Bjarred, Sweden) and senior Cheryl Vaccaro (Charlotte, N.C.) to take the 400 Freestyle Relay with a time of 3:39.6.<\/p>\n
Svensson won the 200 Freestyle with a time of 1:56.60. Wingate freshman Valerie Dembny (Bremen, Germany) triumphed in the 100 Butterfly with a time of 1:00.35.<\/p>\n
Wingate freshman Tim Kniffler (Mulheim, Germany) was victorious in the 100 Backstroke with a time of 52.95. He also posted a second-place showing in the 200 Freestyle (1:47.10) and the 400 Freestyle Relay (3:10.67). Kniffler swam the 400 Free Relay with junior Lee Sousa (Charlotte, N.C.), senior Dwight Richardson (Newport News, Va.) and sophomore Spencer Waganaar (Satellite Beach, Fla.).<\/p>\n
