BUIES CREEK, North Carolina, November 6. CAMPBELL'S swimming team (3-4, 3-1 CCSA) hosted and defeated Radford by a 137-65 score on Saturday afternoon, Nov. 6, at the Johnson Aquatic Center. The Camels saw two school records fall in the meet. CU also had 20 individual top-three finishes on the afternoon in the victory.<\/p>\n
Freshman Kylie Warne led the charge for Campbell and won a pair of events. She set the school record in the 500 free (5:07.16). The mark broke Jackie Kenline's previous record that was set in 2007. Warne also won the 200 free (1:56.54).<\/p>\n
Fellow freshman Cheriesse Campbell continued to impress with a school-record setting victory in the 1,000 free (10:39.06). She broke her own previous time in the 1,000 free that was only set last month. Cheriesse Campbell also finished second in the 500 free. Her time of 5:07.25 would have broken the school record if not for her teammate Warne's reaching the mark first.<\/p>\n
Senior Ashlyn Stumpf also came through with a pair of individual victories for Campbell in the 50 free (24.89) and the 100 free (55.22). Her time in the 50 was a season-best effort.<\/p>\n
Campbell swept the top-three places in the 200 IM with freshman Virginia Dailey leading the group with her time of 2:14.85. Fellow freshmen Charlotte Cornet (2:17.90) and Hannah Nordyke (2:23.46) placed second and third, respectfully.<\/p>\n
Sophomore Kaitlyn Tunstall finished second in the 100 free (56.20) and 200 free (2:00.95).<\/p>\n
Freshman Marissa Coughlin finished third in both the 50 free (26.41) and the 100 free (56.57).<\/p>\n
Junior Emily Michael led the team's sweep in the 100 breast (1:09.69) with an individual victory. Cornet finished second (1:09.82) and Kelsey Bennett placed third (1:12.51).<\/p>\n
Kaitlyn Burnette won the 100 back (1:02.72), Casey Umberger was second in the 100 fly, Spencer Hopper finished third in the 1,000 free (11:29.46) and Maggie Pogue placed third in the 500 free (5:32.48).<\/p>\n
The Campbell 400 medley relay team of Burnette, Michael, Umberger and Cornett won their event in a season-best time of 4:09.14.<\/p>\n
Next, Campbell's swimming program keeps the homestand going with a 2 p.m. meet against North Florida on Nov. 12 at the Johnson Aquatic Center.<\/p>\n
