The 10k is scheduled for Friday, May 19, and the 5k for Saturday, May 21.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/vmrw8k5h.tinifycdn.com\/results\/pdf\/2017-us-open-water-nationals-start-lists-open-water-2017-05-19.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Click here to view the full entry lists.<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Top Americans entered include\u00a0<strong>Jordan Wilimovsky<\/strong>, the reigning World Champion in the 10k, and\u00a0<strong>Haley Anderson<\/strong>, who won a silver medal in the event at the 2012 Olympic Games.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sean Ryan<\/strong>, who joined Wilimovsky in the men&#8217;s 10k field in Rio, retired after the Olympic Games, and London Olympian\u00a0<strong>Alex Meyer\u00a0<\/strong>has also called it a career.<\/p>\n<p>The list of athletes competing include National Team veterans\u00a0<strong>Ashley Twichell<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Eva Fabian<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Chip Peterson<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Andrew Gemmell<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>David Heron<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The meet will be the only American\u00a0selection meet for the 2017 World Championships, as well as the 2017 World University Games and 2017 World Junior Championships. The selection procedures for World Championships are available here.<\/p>\n<p>The top two finishers in both the 5k and 10k race for both women and men will be selected to the Worlds team, and the top three finishers in the 10k will, in order of finish, be given the option to swim the 25k as well.<\/p>\n<p>Several international swimmers will be in the race, including Italy&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Rachele Bruni<\/strong>, the 10k silver medalist from Rio. On the men&#8217;s side, Tunisia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Ous Mellouli<\/strong> and Canada&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Richard Weinberger<\/strong> will be in town. Mellouli and Weinberger won gold and bronze, respectively, in the 10k at the 2012 Olympics.<\/p>\n<p>British Swimming is also using the event as its selection meet for the World Championships in Budapest.\u00a0<strong>Jack Burnell<\/strong> is among those expected to compete. Burnell finished third in the men&#8217;s 10k at the Olympics in Rio but was disqualified for a physical altercation.<\/p>\n<p>Also taking place at Castaic Lake this weekend is the first-ever Junior National 5k race, scheduled for Saturday, May 20.
