RENO, Nevada, November 6. THE University of Nevada swimming and diving team fell to 1-5 after a 166-134 loss to Nebraska (1-1) Saturday morning at Lombardi Pool. <\/p>\n
Sophomore Mengjiao Mi (Beijing, China) led the Wolf Pack with three individual first place finishes. Mi recorded a time of 1:51.98 to win the 200-yard freestyle. Mi also took first in the 100-yard (51.82) and 500-yard (5:02.67) freestyle races. The sophomore also swam the final leg in a 400-yard relay race that came down to the wire. Ultimately, Nebraska edged the Wolf Pack by 0.18 seconds. <\/p>\n
Chavisa Thaveesupsoonthorn (So., Bangkok, Thailand) snagged first place finishes in the 200-yard backstroke (2:05.89) and 200-yard IM (2:08.62). Thaveesupsoonthorn also posted a time of 59.78 to place third in the 100-yard backstroke. <\/p>\n
Sophomore Gabby Guieb took first in the 200-yard butterfly (2:06.20) and second in the 200-yard IM (2:08.62). Guieb also finished fourth in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 59.08. <\/p>\n
Marichi Gandionco (Sr., Quezon City, Philippines) recorded a pair of third place finishes in the 200-yard (2:08.50) and 100-yard (58.68) butterfly. Junior Chelsey Larsen (Sparks, Nev.) turned in a third place finish for the Wolf Pack in the day's longest event, the 1,000-yard freestyle. Larsen also finished fourth in the 500-yard freestyle (5:18.96). <\/p>\n
The Wolf Pack divers posted strong scores to claim first on both boards. Freshman Grace Huang finished first on the 3-meter with a score of 326.93 and second on the 1-meter with a score of 274.95. Aniesa Debaji (Jr., Edmonton, Alberta, Canada) took first on the 1-meter (284.03) and second on the 3-meter (293.40). Freshman Stephanie Hansen (Surrey, British Columbia, Canada) completed Nevada's sweep on the 3-meter, taking third with a score of 279.75. <\/p>\n
Nevada will return to Lombardi Pool December 4 at 11 a.m. to face Western Athletic Conference foe Idaho. <\/p>\n
