MOSCOW, Idaho, November 6. THE New Mexico State swimming and diving team concluded its two-meet road trip with a WAC contest at Idaho. The Aggies fell to the Vandals, 149.5-93.5, in their first conference road meet of the season.<\/p>\n
The Aggies claimed the top two spots in the 200 breast with junior Maria Spies and senior Kelly Runestrand finishing in first and second place, respectively. On the boards, junior Carly Smith won the 3-meter springboard and was third on the 1-meter, while senior Mariesa Cloud earned second place on the 1-meter and finished third on the 3-meter.<\/p>\n
"We had such a high-energy meet at Washington State and swam with passion and had some amazing swims," head coach Rick Pratt said. "Unfortunately, we did not have much left for Idaho. I am very disappointed with our performance and hats off to Idaho, who swam an aggressive meet. We've got to learn from this experience and keep working."<\/p>\n
In the 1,650 free, NM State scored with junior Brittney Moore's second-place showing and sophomore Haley Gansneder's third-place finish. Additionally, Moore touched the wall in second place in the 500 free.<\/p>\n
Sophomores Hannah Ferrin and Beth Cate collected second and third in the 200 fly, while freshman Terrin Seaver and senior Alannah Lawrence earned second and third in the 200 back. In the 200 free, Cate posted her second third-place showing of the meet, and senior Kelly Conrad was third in the 100 free and tied for third in the 50 free.<\/p>\n
Freshman Tricia Kiss earned a runner-up finish in the 200 individual medley. The Aggie relays finished in second place in both the 400-medley and 200-free relay.<\/p>\n
