SAN LUIS OBISPO, California, November 5. PETER Kline won three men's events while Lacey Buck and Amanda Maffris both touched the wall first in a pair of women's events to highlight Cal Poly's performance on the first day of competition in the Cal Poly Shootout swimming and diving meet Friday at the Anderson Aquatic Center.<\/p>\n
Kline earned victories in the 100 backstroke (50.67), 200 backstroke (1:50.41) and 400 individual medley (3:59.38) to lead the Mustang men's team to first place with 1,023.5 points. Concordia of Irvine is second with 622.5 points while Fresno Pacific is third with 101 points.<\/p>\n
Mustang freshman Konrad Antoniuk was victorious in both the 200 freestyle (1:43.31) and 500 freestyle (4:35.42).<\/p>\n
Other Mustang winners in men's events were David LaFlamme in the 100 butterfly (51.25), Josh Cutts in the 200 breaststroke (2:10.28) and Toby Reaper in one-meter diving (243.35 points). Reaper also was second in three-meter diving (235.90).<\/p>\n
Cal Poly also won the 200 medley relay as Kline, Cutts, LaFlamme and Aaron McKinnon posted a time of 1:36.66.<\/p>\n
Chase Nick finished second in both the 100 backstroke (53.37) and 100 freestyle (48.14) while Adrian Brynnel was second in the 200 freestyle (1:43.55) and third in the 500 freestyle (4:45.31).<\/p>\n
On the women's side, Buck (pictured above) won the 200 butterfly (2:04.91) and 500 freestyle (5:00.89) while Maffris was victorious in both the 200 backstroke (2:06.09) and 400 individual medley (4:30.94) as Cal Poly compiled 892.5 points.<\/p>\n
San Diego is second with 572 points, followed by Loyola Marymount (492), Concordia (218.5) and Pepperdine (205).<\/p>\n
Mustang Amy Morales won the 100 backstroke (58.83), Angie Haven claimed the 100 breaststroke (1:05.58) and Meaghan O'Meara scored 210.10 points to win the women's three-meter diving event.<\/p>\n
Freshman Jill Jones was second in the 200 freestyle (1:54.97) and fourth in both the 100 freestyle (52.96) and 400 individual medley (4:35.42) for Cal Poly while Sami McIntyre was second in three-meter diving (218.10) and third off the one-meter board (216.40).<\/p>\n
Katrina Anderson claimed second place in the 200 backstroke (2:06.47) and third in the 500 freestyle (5:11.21).<\/p>\n
Saturday's competition in the Cal Poly Shootout begins at 10 a.m.<\/p>\n
