{"id":255148,"date":"2017-05-08T12:41:26","date_gmt":"2017-05-08T19:41:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=255148"},"modified":"2017-05-08T12:41:26","modified_gmt":"2017-05-08T19:41:26","slug":"katie-hoff-among-four-inductees-into-maryland-swimming-hall-of-fame","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/katie-hoff-among-four-inductees-into-maryland-swimming-hall-of-fame\/","title":{"rendered":"Katie Hoff Among Four Inductees Into Maryland Swimming Hall of Fame"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Three-time Olympic medalist\u00a0<strong>Katie Hoff<\/strong> was inducted into the Maryland Swimming Hall of Fame over the weekend, along with longtime coach\u00a0<strong>Paul Yetter\u00a0<\/strong>as well as\u00a0<strong>Don Feinberg\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>George Kennedy<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Hoff made two Olympic teams during her career, in 2004 and 2008, and she won seven World titles (four individual) in her career while twice breaking the world record in the women&#8217;s 400 IM. She almost won Olympic gold in the 400 free in 2008 before being just touched out at the end by Great Britain&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Rebecca Adlington<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Hoff took a hiatus from the sport after missing the Olympic team in 2012, but she was later drawn back in and competed in meets in 2014 and 2015. However, the comeback was cut short when Hoff was diagnosed with blood clots in her lungs, which <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/3-time-olympic-medalist-katie-hoff-announces-official-retirement\/\" target=\"_blank\">eventually forced her to retire<\/a>. Hoff married\u00a0<strong>Todd Anderson\u00a0<\/strong>in 2015.<\/p>\n<p>Yetter, meanwhile, rose to notoriety when he guided Hoff onto the 2004 Olympic team as a 15-year-old and coached her through 2008 at the North Baltimore Aquatic Club. He also coached a group that included\u00a0<strong>Elizabeth Pelton<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Felicia Lee<\/strong>, <strong>Dan Madwed<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Courtney Kalisz\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Brendan Morris<\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>before leaving to spend a year as an assistant coach at Auburn.
