THE first day of short course meter prelims action is complete at the World Cup stop in Moscow.<\/p>\n<p><b>Men&#39;s 100 free<\/b><br \/>\nA nearly complete Russian finale was setup in the 100 free with Andrey Grechin leading the way in 47.61. Evgeny Lagunov (47.91) and Danila Izotov (47.96) qualified second and third.<\/p>\n<p>Nikita Konovalov (48.05), Vitaly Syrnikov (48.34), Alexander Sukhorukov (48.55) and Oleg Tikhobaev (48.94) also qualified, while South Africa&#39;s Lyndon Ferns placed seventh in 48.60.<\/p>\n<p><b>Women&#39;s 200 free<\/b><br \/>\nVeronika Popova led another Russian-filled finale with a top-seeded time of 1:58.10. Daria Belyakina (1:58.65) and Kira Volodina (1:58.78) cleared 1:59 for second and third. Victoria Malyutina (1:59.10) and Victoria Andreeva (1:59.32) touched fourth and fifth, while Alexandra Veselova took seventh in 1:59.96.<\/p>\n<p>Sweden&#39;s Michelle Coleman (1:59.73) and Ukraine&#39;s Valeriya Podlisna (2:00.05) qualified sixth and eighth.<\/p>\n<p><b>Men&#39;s 50 breast<\/b><br \/>\nSouth Africa&#39;s Roland Schoeman tied Russia&#39;s Aleksandr Triznov with matching 27.30s for the top seed. Stanislav Lakhtyukhov (27.43) and Sergey Geybel (27.55) qualified third and fourth.<\/p>\n<p>Ukraine&#39;s Andriy Kovalenko (27.60), Brazil&#39;s Raphael Rodrigues (27.62) and Brazil&#39;s Joao Gomes Jr. (27.67) finished fifth through seventh, while Russia&#39;s Dmitry Sidorin and Ukraine&#39;s Yaroslav Parakhin set up a swimoff for eighth with matching 28.00s.<\/p>\n<p><b>Women&#39;s 100 breast<\/b><br \/>\nYuliya Efimova cruised to the top seed with a time of 1:07.41, while Daria Deeva took second in 1:08.07. Ekaterina Balkakova (1:08.33) and Vitalina Simonova (1:08.47) touched third and fourth.<\/p>\n<p>Valentina Artemyeva (1:08.51), Japan&#39;s Mio Motegi (1:08.76), Vera Kalashnikova (1:09.06) and Anastasia Chaun (1:09.36) also made the finale.<\/p>\n<p><b>Women&#39;s 100 fly<\/b><br \/>\nDenmark&#39;s Jeanette Ottesen touched out Sweden&#39;s Therese Alshammar, 58.74 to 58.75, for the top seed. Japan&#39;s Rino Hosoda (58.88), USA&#39;s Elaine Breeden (59.50) and USA&#39;s Jasmine Tosky (59.50) were among the top five.<\/p>\n<p>South Africa&#39;s Mandy Loots (59.70), Russia&#39;s Anastasia Lyazeva (59.81) and Russia&#39;s Olga Klyuchnikova (1:00.01) earned sixth through eighth.<\/p>\n<p><b>Men&#39;s 100 back<\/b><br \/>\nAnother nearly All-Russian finale was setup in the 100 back. Stanislav Donets (51.88), Arkady Vyatchanin (52.40), Artem Dubovskoy (52.61) and Vitaly Borisov (52.62) finished first through fourth.<\/p>\n<p>Anton Butymov (52.75), Sergey Makov (53.19) and Anton Anchin (53.32) qualified fifth through seventh. Japan&#39;s Kosuke Hagino qualified eighth in 53.40.<\/p>\n<p><b>Women&#39;s 50 back<\/b><br \/>\nAnastasia Zueva paced prelims with a 27.94, while Sweden&#39;s Emma Svensson took second in 27.97. The Netherlands&#39; Hinkelien Schreuder (28.02) and Japan&#39;s Marie Kamimura (28.11) placed third and fourth.<\/p>\n<p>Ukraine&#39;s Daryna Zevina (28.33), Zimbabwe&#39;s Kirsty Coventry (28.38), Japan&#39;s Mai Harada (28.46) and Russia&#39;s Margarita Nesterova (28.63) made up the rest of the finale.<\/p>\n<p><b>Men&#39;s 200 fly<\/b><br \/>\nNikolay Skvortsov (1:57.25) and Maxim Ganikhin (1:57.94) qualified first and second. Brazil&#39;s Lucas Salatta (1:58.33) and Alexander Vorobyev (1:58.46) placed third and fourth.<\/p>\n<p>Poland&#39;s Pawel Korzeniowski (1:58.59), Colombia&#39;s Omar Pinzon (1:58.68), Roman Mikhaylov (1:59.15) and Andrey Tambovskiy (1:59.71) picked up the rest of the transfer spots.<\/p>\n<p><b>Women&#39;s 200 IM<\/b><br \/>\nUSA&#39;s Julia Smit clinched the top seed in 2:11.51, well ahead of Daria Belyakina&#39;s second-seeded 2:12.44. Kristina Kochetkova (2:13.58) and Zimbabwe&#39;s Kirsty Coventry (2:14.30) rounded out the top four.<\/p>\n<p>Ekaterina Andreeva (2:14.77), Yana Martynova (2:15.31), Svetlana Karpeeva (2:15.54) and South Africa&#39;s Mandy Loots (2:15.74) took fifth through eighth.<\/p>\n<p><b>Men&#39;s 400 free<\/b><br \/>\nDenis Garanin clocked a 3:49.90 for the lead time, while Japan&#39;s Daiya Seto finished second in 3:50.20. Faroes&#39; Pal Joensen (3:50.23) and Ukraine&#39;s Sergiy Frolov (3:51.32) placed third and fourth.<\/p>\n<p>Evgeny Kulikov (3:51.50), Alexander Shimin (3:52.20), Victor Polyakov (3:52.66) and Aleksandr Selin (3:53.10) comprised the rest of the championship heat.<\/p>\n<p><b>Women&#39;s 50 free<\/b><br \/>\nSweden&#39;s Therese Alshammar paced the splash-and-dash with a 24.88, while The Netherlands&#39; Hinkelien Schreuder finished second in 24.92. Ukraine&#39;s Andriy Kovalenko (2:08.72), Maksim Shcherbakov (2:08.73) and Mikhail Lapshin (2:08.92) earned second through fourth.<\/p>\n<p>Oleg Kostin (2:09.47), Viacheslav Sinkevich (2:10.13), Grigory Falko (2:10.30) and Anton Lobanov (2:10.65) grabbed the other lanes in the finale.<\/p>\n<p><b>Men&#39;s 100 IM<\/b><br \/>\nSergey Fesikov topped prelims with a time of 53.80, while South Africa&#39;s Darian Townsend took second in 54.39. Brazil&#39;s Thiago Pereira qualified third in 55.12, while Dmitry Zhilin placed fourth in 55.33.<\/p>\n<p>Vladislav Seryy (55.37), Colombia&#39;s Omar Pinzon (55.51), Ivan Udalov (55.56) and Japan&#39;s Daiya Seto (55.61) picked up the rest of the spots in the finale.<\/p>\n<p><b>Women&#39;s 200 back<\/b><br \/>\nJapan&#39;s Marie Kamimura posted the top time of the morning with a 2:07.54, while Zimbabwe&#39;s Kirsty Coventry finished second in 2:08.53. Maria Gromova (2:08.86) and Ukraine&#39;s Daryna Zevina (2:09.20) earned third and fourth.<\/p>\n<p>Alexandra Papusha (2:09.46), Kseniya Moskvina (2:09.75), Germany&#39;s Jenny Mensing (2:10.29) and USA&#39;s Julia Smit (2:10.70) will also compete in the championship field.<\/p>\n<p><b>Men&#39;s 50 fly<\/b><br \/>\nNikita Konovalov moved into the top 10 in the world rankings with a time of 23.09.
