BROOKLYN HEIGHTS, New York, October 30. THE Central Connecticut swimming and diving team split a meet at St. Francis (PA) on Saturday, dropping a 151-110 decision to St. Francis (PA) and defeating Duquesne 149-112. Sophomore Taylor Friedmann posted three victories in the meet for the Blue Devils, winning the 200, 500 and 1,000 yard freestyle events. She posted pool record times in the 200 and 500 yard free.<\/p>\n
The meet was held at St. Francis (PA) in the Stokes Athletic Center.<\/p>\n
Friedmann started her day with a win in the 1,000 yard freestyle, posting a time of 10:36.36 to win by almost four seconds. She followed that up by setting a new pool record in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:53.38. She took almost two full seconds off of the existing record with was set earlier in 2010.<\/p>\n
She claimed her second pool record in the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 5:06.79. She bested the existing mark by over three seconds, and won the race by over six seconds. Her three race victories were the most on the day for any swimmer.<\/p>\n
Teammate Alex Czaplicki posted a win in the 200 yard backstoke with a time of 2:08.27. She also had a second place finish in the 100 yard back, losing by only .15 of a second with a time of 59.62. The winner posted a time of 59.47. Teammate Allison Rasile was third in the race with a time of 1:00.68.<\/p>\n
Central finished second and third in the 100 yard breaststroke. Kristina Gulia was second with a time of 1:07.19 while Kristen Malski was third with a time of 1:08.33.<\/p>\n
They also finished second and third in the 100 freestyle. Helene Neuhaus was second at 53.63 while Katie Lang was third at 54.22.<\/p>\n
Gulia and Malski finished thrird and fourth in the 200 yard breaststroke with times of 2:28.70 and 2:29.05 respectively. <\/p>\n
Central returns to action on Sunday hosting a home meet against Southern Connecticut.<\/p>\n
