{"id":254754,"date":"2017-05-06T16:44:39","date_gmt":"2017-05-06T23:44:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=254754"},"modified":"2017-05-06T16:46:36","modified_gmt":"2017-05-06T23:46:36","slug":"katie-ledecky-dominates-200-free-in-atlanta-second-victory-of-the-meet","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/katie-ledecky-dominates-200-free-in-atlanta-second-victory-of-the-meet\/","title":{"rendered":"Katie Ledecky Dominates 200 Free in Atlanta, Second Victory of the Meet"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Stanford&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Katie Ledecky\u00a0<\/strong>was dominant in the shortest of her signature events, opening up a big lead from the start and pulling away to win the Atlanta 200 free in 1:56.26.<\/p>\n<p>That time improved on her own season-best time of 1:56.31, but she remains ranked fourth in the world this year behind\u00a0<strong>Michelle Coleman<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Emma McKeon\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Federica Pellegrini<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>St. Petersburg&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Melanie Margalis\u00a0<\/strong>finished second in 1:57.76, just a little bit short of her season best, 1:57.69. Margalis just held off Stanford&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Simone Manuel<\/strong>, who showed some impressive closing speed to finish third in 1:57.87.<\/p>\n<p>Club Wolverine&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Siobhan Haughey\u00a0<\/strong>took fourth in 1:58.21, and North Baltimore teenager swam an impressive 1:58.64 to take fourth.
