LAKELAND, Florida, October 29. WITH Cara Potter winning two individual races and leading off the winning 200-yard freestyle team, Florida Southern rallied for a 111-93 victory over Savannah College of Art & Design on Friday evening.<\/p>\n
The Moccasins, who are now 1-2 in duel meets this season, trailed 24-11 in the meet after two events, but began their comeback in the 200-yard freestyle when Lisa Menne won the event in a time of 2:00.52, and Taylor Reynolds came in a little more than one second behind her. Malinda Turner got the Mocs another point with a fifth-place finish in a time of 2:06.10, getting them within 29-25.<\/p>\n
In the next event, the 50-yard freestyle, Potter won the race in a time of 24.62 seconds, followed by Kelly Ruf in second and Jordon Momsen in third. That trio of swimmers gave Florida Southern 13 of the 16 points in the 50-yard freestyle and put the Mocs ahead, 41-32.<\/p>\n
Rae-Lynn Sheffield widened the gap with a victory in the 200-yard IM, Kelsey Duncan picked up a win in the 100-yard butterfly, and Potter won again in the 100-yard freestyle. The Moccasins also took second and third in that race with Menne and Momsen coming in right behind her. Reynolds then got a victory in the 100-yard backstroke, swimming the race in 1:01.52, a little over one second off the school record.<\/p>\n
Florida Southern closed things out with its win in the 200-yard freestyle relay, a team comprised of Potter, Ruf, Menne, and Anna McIntyre.<\/p>\n
The Moccasins will next compete on Friday, November 5 at Saint Leo.<\/p>\n
