Maranhao, the Brazilian National Record holder, stopped the clock at a 4:51.54, more than six seconds ahead of the competition.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Florencia Perotti<\/strong> finished second in prelims with a 4:58.01, followed by\u00a0<strong>Bruna Veronez Primati&#8217;s<\/strong> 4:59.14.<\/p>\n<h3>Men&#8217;s 400 IM<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Brandonn Pierry Cruz<\/strong> commanded the pool in prelims of the men&#8217;s 400 IM, posting the top morning time at a 4:26.80.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Miguel Leite Valente<\/strong> touched second in prelims wit ha 4:29.05, just ahead of\u00a0<strong>Bruce Hanson Cruz&#8217;s<\/strong> time of 4:29.26.<\/p>\n<h3>Women&#8217;s 200 Free<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Julia Volkmann<\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>held off a tight field of competitors in prelims of the women&#8217;s 200 free, grabbing the top seed with a 2:01.06.<\/p>\n<p>Picking up the second and third place seeds were\u00a0<strong>Maria\u00a0<\/strong><b>Heinemann<\/b> and\u00a0<strong>Rafaela Raurich<\/strong> with times of 2:01.32 and 2:01.60 respectively.<\/p>\n<h3>Men&#8217;s 200 Free<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Felipe de Souza\u00a0<\/strong>posted the fastest time of the morning in the men&#8217;s 200 free, stopping the clock at a 1:49.14.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Giuliano Carer Rocco<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>Fernando Scheffer<\/strong> rounded out the top three with close times of 1:49.62 and 1:49.64 respectively.<\/p>\n<h3>Women&#8217;s 200 Back<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Andrea Berrino<\/strong> topped prelims of the women&#8217;s 200 back with a 2:15.37, finishing close to a full second ahead of the competition.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Gabriela Albuquerque<\/strong> touched second overall with a 2:16.32, while\u00a0<strong>Natalia de Luccas<\/strong> qualified third with a 2:17.19.<\/p>\n<p>Brazilian National Record holder in this event,\u00a0<strong>Joanna Maranhao<\/strong>, was not present in the preliminary field.<\/p>\n<h3>Men&#8217;s 200 Back<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Guilherme Augusto Guido<\/strong> nabbed the top seed in the men&#8217;s back with a 2:02.34 showing.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Nathan Bighetti<\/strong> qualified close on Guido&#8217;s heels with a showing of 2:02.88, good for the second place seed, while\u00a0<strong>Leonardo Alves Santos<\/strong> was third in prelims with a 2:03.39.<\/p>\n<h3>Women&#8217;s 50 Fly<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Daynara Ferreira Paula<\/strong>, the Brazilian National Record holder in this event, posted the top time of the morning in the women&#8217;s 50 fly at a 26.74.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Bruna Lemos<\/strong> turned in the only other sub-27 second swim at a 26.90 for the second place seed.\u00a0<strong>Daiene Dias<\/strong> finished third with a 27.40.<\/p>\n<h3>Men&#8217;s 50 Fly<\/h3>\n<p>The top time of the morning in the men&#8217;s 50 fly was posted by\u00a0<strong>Nicholas dos Santos.\u00a0<\/strong>Santos stopped the clock at a 22.80 to pick up the first place seed, just ahead of\u00a0<strong>Henrique de Souza Martins<\/strong> and his time of 22.98.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Guilherme Rosolen<\/strong> rounded out the top three qualifiers with a 23.43 showing.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Day four prelims of the 2017 Brazilian National Championships, also known as Maria Lenk Trophy, saw\u00a0Joanna Maranhao set herself up for another gold.
