Staff and 48 up-and-coming athletes will participate in the camp through <span data-term=\"goog_242919082\">Sunday, May 7<\/span> at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs.<\/p>\n<p>National Diversity Select Camp staff is listed below:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Head Coach<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>o\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <strong>Abi Liu<\/strong> \u2013 PEAK Swimming, San Jose, Calif.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Assistant Coach<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>o\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <strong>Joe Turner III<\/strong> \u2013 Neptune Aquatic Club, Detroit, Mich.<\/p>\n<p>o\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <strong>Andrew Dang Nguyen<\/strong> \u2013 Bellevue Club Swim Team, Bellevue, Wash.<\/p>\n<p>o\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <strong>Jennifer Rose White (Beech)<\/strong> \u2013 Temecula Swim Club, Menifee, Calif.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Manager<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>o\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <strong>Sydney Pepper<\/strong> \u2013 Dekalb Aquatics, Villa Rica, Ga.<\/p>\n<p>o\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <strong>Ronaldo S. Mesina Jr.<\/strong> &#8211; Northern Kentucky Clippers Swimming, Erlanger, Ky.<\/p>\n<p>The purpose of the camp is to instill a vision of success and inspire athletes from ethnically under-represented populations to become leaders in the sport of swimming. Forty-four different clubs from 20 states will be represented and alumni of the program include Olympic gold medalist <strong>Simone Manuel <\/strong>(Sugar Land, Texas\/Stanford Swimming).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOnce again we have a very talented group of athletes and coaches attending this year\u2019s National Diversity Select Camp,\u201d said <strong>Juan Caraveo<\/strong>, USA Swimming Diversity and Inclusion Consultant. \u201cThe athletes coming to this year\u2019s camp are some of the most seasoned competitors we\u2019ve hosted as many have participated in a variety national competitions and other USA Swimming Camps. We look forward to incorporating these competitive experiences into our themes of motivation, education, leadership and excellence.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Originally created in the 1990s as an Outreach Camp, the National Diversity Select Camp was renamed in 2006. The camp hosts swimmers between the ages 14 and 16 and selection is based on times swum at USA Swimming sanctioned events.
