High school junior\u00a0<strong>Julia Cook\u00a0<\/strong>has verbally committed to swim for\u00a0<strong>Carol Capitani\u00a0<\/strong>and her team.<\/p>\n<p>Cook is an in-state talent, training with Aggie Swim Club in College Station. She attends Bryan High School where she has been a three time 50 freestyle high school state champion. She is the<a href=\"http:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/dakota-luther-breaks-dana-vollmers-100-fly-high-school-state-record-at-finals-of-texas-championships\/\" target=\"_blank\"> 5A state record holder<\/a> in the 50 and 100 freestyle.<\/p>\n<p>Her top times are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>50 Free 22.32<\/li>\n<li>100 Free 48.44<\/li>\n<li>200 Free 1:45.35<\/li>\n<li>50 Back 24.33<\/li>\n<li>100 Back 52.37<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Cook should make an immediate impact for the Longhorns. While her best 50 time would have created a three way tie for 27th at NCAAs, it also would have but her in contention for a 200 freestyle relay spot. Senior\u00a0<strong>Tasija Karosas\u00a0<\/strong>recorded the team&#8217;s slowest split, a 23.32.<\/p>\n<p>Cook would also improve the team&#8217;s ninth place 400 freestyle relay. Her best time would have been a touch faster than\u00a0senior\u00a0<strong>Madisyn Cox<\/strong>&#8216;s 48.91. Individually, Cox is four tenths outside of scoring in the 100 freestyle.<\/p>\n<p>She has immediate scoring capability on the Conference level. The Longhorn women snagged the top four spots in the 50 at Big 12s. Cook would have touched second.
