Stanford’s Just Beginning<\/h2>\n

It took Stanford 19 years to return as NCAA Division I swimming and diving champions, but it looks like the Cardinal is ready to stay at the top for a few more years to come.<\/p>\n

As Katie Ledecky<\/strong>, Simone Manuel, Ella Eastin<\/strong> and the rest of Stanford\u2019s victorious women\u2019s swimming team took their celebratory leap into the waters of Indiana University Natatorium, all the pressures and disappointments of the past were washed away.<\/p>\n

Gone was last year\u2019s bitter memory of a runner-up finish after disqualifying a relay. Gone was a streak of 19 years without a na- tional title despite plenty of Olympian-studded rosters. The weight that these young swim stars had carried on their shoulders was finally lifted.<\/p>\n

At the women\u2019s NCAA Division I Swimming and Diving Championships, March 15-18, Ledecky won three events, while Manuel and Eastin each won two. But it was the supporting cast of the masterful trio that made the Cardinal one of the most dominating teams in women\u2019s swimming history, winning 10 events.<\/p>\n
