Daiene Marcal Dias\u00a0<\/strong>flew to victory in the women’s 100 fly finals, stopping the clock at a 58.98. Dias’ time falls just shy of the top 20 world rankings for 2017, where 20th currently sits at a 58.73 from China’s\u00a0Shuang Li<\/strong>.\u00a0Daynara Ferreira Paula<\/strong> turned in the second fastest time of the evening at a 59.07 to be the only other swimmer beneath the one minute mark.\u00a0Giovanna Tomanik<\/strong> rounded out the podium with a 1:00.48.<\/p>\n All three athletes posted times beneath the FINA ‘B’ qualifying time standard of 1:00.53.<\/p>\n Henrique de Souza Martins\u00a0<\/strong>maintained his spot atop the competition with a 51.82 showing in the men’s 100 fly. Martins’ time propels him to fifth in the world rankings for 2017, with only .01 seconds separating him from Aussie\u00a0David Morgan<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Vinicius Lanza<\/strong> touched second overall with a 52.02, placing both him and Martins beneath FINA’s ‘A’ cut time of 52.29.\u00a0Kaio Marcio de Almeida<\/strong> completed the top three with a time of 52.86.<\/p>\n Joanna Maranhao<\/strong> jumped to an early lead in finals of the women’s 400 free and never looked back. Maranhao led the race from start-to-finish, stopping the clock at a 4:09.41 for first. Maranhao’s time sits just beneath the FINA ‘A’ cut of 4:10.57, earning her a qualifying spot on the World Championships team.<\/p>\n Viviane Eichelberger<\/strong> held steady at second throughout the race, finishing with a 4:12.38, while\u00a0Poliana Okimoto<\/strong> was third overall with a 4:14.12. Both athletes touched below the FINA ‘B’ standard of 4:19.34.<\/p>\n Guilherme da costa<\/strong> turned in the top time in the men’s 400 free, posting a final time of 3:49.49 for the gold. While his time missed the FINA ‘A’ cut of 3:48.15, it did fall well beneath the FINA ‘B’ cut of 3:56.14.<\/p>\n Giuliano Carer Rocco<\/strong> and\u00a0Luiz Altamir Lopes Melo<\/strong> tied for second in the 400, as the two delivered matching times of 3:50.49.<\/p>\n Macarena Ailen Ceballos<\/strong> and\u00a0Julia Sebastian<\/strong> delivered a tight race in finals of the women’s 100 breast, finishing .05 seconds apart. Despite an early lead from Sebastian, Ceballos pulled even and ahead to out-touch her 1:08.00 to 1:08.05. The two swimmers claimed FINA ‘B’ cuts along with their gold and silver medals.<\/p>\n Jhennifer Alves Conceicao<\/strong> completed the top three with a time of 1:08.43.<\/p>\n Joao Luiz Gomes Junior<\/strong> topped the competition in the men’s 100 breast, posting the only sub-minute time at a 59.41.
