THE first day of short course meter preliminary action is complete at the World Cup stop in Singapore.<\/p>\n<p><b>Women&#39;s 800 free slower heat<\/b><br \/>\nFour swimmers from Singapore competed in the slow heat of the distance free: Ting Ting Koh (9:17.76), Chelsea Lin Fuchs (9:23.93), Marina Chan (9:23.94) and Chloe Wang (9:39.80).<\/p>\n<p><b>Men&#39;s 100 free<\/b><br \/>\nSouth Africa&#39;s Lyndon Ferns led the way with a top time of 48.07, while teammates Darian Townsend (48.23) and Graeme Moore (48.35) qualified second and third.  <\/p>\n<p>Australia&#39;s Kyle Richardson (48.52), Sweden&#39;s Lars Frolander (48.53), Sweden&#39;s Stefan Nystrand (48.64), Russia&#39;s Sergey Fesikov (48.86) and Switzerland&#39;s Erik Van Dooren (49.97) completed the top eight.<\/p>\n<p><b>Women&#39;s 200 free<\/b><br \/>\nFinland&#39;s Hanna-Maria Seppala claimed the top seed with a time of 2:00.21, while China&#39;s Zhang Jiaqi (2:01.66), New Zealand&#39;s Melissa Ingram (2:01.82) and Singapore&#39;s Amanda Lim (2:01.87) grabbed second through fourth.<\/p>\n<p>Japan&#39;s Yumi Kida (2:01.91), Brazil&#39;s Tatiana Lemos-Barbosa (2:02.64), Japan&#39;s Ayano Koguchi (2:03.28) and China&#39;s Zheng Yifei (2:03.79) qualified fifth through eighth.<\/p>\n<p><b>Men&#39;s 50 breast<\/b><br \/>\nSouth Africa went 1-2 with Roland Schoeman (27.34) and Cameron van der Burgh (27.45) qualifying first and second. Brazil&#39;s Joao Gomes Jr. touched third in 27.75, while Japan&#39;s Naoya Tomita (28.11), Singapore&#39;s Lionel Khoo (28.38) and Indonesia&#39;s Nicko Biondi (28.49) placed fourth through sixth.<\/p>\n<p>Indonesia&#39;s Omar Suryaatmadja (28.93) and Singapore&#39;s Kenneth Lim (28.97) also made the championship finale.<\/p>\n<p><b>Women&#39;s 100 breast<\/b><br \/>\nUSA&#39;s Jessica Hardy cruised into the top seed with a 1:07.69, while Japan&#39;s Nanaka Tamura placed second in 1:08.80. Sweden&#39;s Jennie Johansson (1:09.16) and Germany&#39;s Kerstin Vogel (1:09.28) touched third through fourth.<\/p>\n<p>Germany&#39;s Dorothea Brandt (1:10.10), South Africa&#39;s Ronwyn Roper (1:12.42), Singapore&#39;s Samantha Yeo (1:12.43) and Singapore&#39;s Cheryl Lim (1:13.50) picked up the rest of the finale transfer spots.<\/p>\n<p><b>Men&#39;s 400 IM slow heat<\/b><br \/>\nSingapore&#39;s Yan Han Lok (4:49.46) and Aaron Teo (4:51.07) took first and second with Zheng Wen Quah being disqualified.<\/p>\n<p><b>Women&#39;s 100 fly<\/b><br \/>\nSweden&#39;s Therese Alshammar , a World Cup veteran, clocked the top time with a 58.12. Singapore&#39;s Li Tao (58.75), USA&#39;s Natalie Coughlin (58.82) and USA&#39;s Elaine Breeden (59.52) also cleared 1:00 for second through fourth.<\/p>\n<p>China&#39;s Gong Jie (1:01.67), Finland&#39;s Heidi Karjalainen (1:01.77), New Zealand&#39;s Charlotte Webby (1:02.27) and Singapore&#39;s Meagan Lim (1:02.76) rounded out the championship field.<\/p>\n<p><b>Men&#39;s 100 back<\/b><br \/>\nJapan&#39;s Kazuki Watanabe touched out Brazil&#39;s Guilherme Guido, 54.29 to 54.34, for the top seed out of prelims. Australia&#39;s Hayden Stoeckel (54.87) and Russia&#39;s Arkady Vyatchanin (55.21) placed third and fourth.<\/p>\n<p>USA&#39;s Randall Bal (55.28), USA&#39;s Peter Marshall (55.32), China&#39;s Lin Tai Qi (56.02) and Singapore&#39;s Rainer Ng (56.04) earned fifth through eighth.<\/p>\n<p><b>Women&#39;s 50 back<\/b><br \/>\nAustralia&#39;s Rachel Goh ripped off a 26.88 for the top time, moving to fourth in the world rankings. The Netherlands&#39; Hinkelien Schreuder took second in 27.76, while Australia&#39;s Marieke Guehrer (28.28) and Japan&#39;s Wakana Hirai (28.47) placed third through fourth.<\/p>\n<p>Germany&#39;s Jenny Mensing (28.55), Australia&#39;s Kotuku Ngawati (28.64), USA&#39;s Madison Kennedy (28.80) and Singapore&#39;s Lynette Ng (28.81) captured the rest of the finale spots.<\/p>\n<p><b>Men&#39;s 200 fly<\/b><br \/>\nAustralia&#39;s Travis Nederpelt raced to the top seed with a 1:56.96, while Canada&#39;s Brian Johns finished second in 1:58.80. Switzerland&#39;s Alexandre Liess (1:58.86) and Brazil&#39;s Thiago Pereira (1:59.38) took third and fourth.<\/p>\n<p>Switzerland&#39;s Nico Van Duijn (1:59.62), Australia&#39;s Shane Asbury (1:59.75), Indonesia&#39;s Donny Utomo (2:03.97) and Indonesia&#39;s Pratama Siahaan (2:06.84) also made the finale.<\/p>\n<p><b>Women&#39;s 200 IM<\/b><br \/>\nAustralia&#39;s Kotuku Ngawati paced prelims with a 2:13.34, while USA&#39;s Julia Smit placed second in 2:13.48.
