{"id":250532,"date":"2017-04-07T07:47:44","date_gmt":"2017-04-07T14:47:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=250532"},"modified":"2017-04-07T07:47:44","modified_gmt":"2017-04-07T14:47:44","slug":"psych-sheet-out-for-arena-pro-swim-mesa-loaded-field-expected","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/psych-sheet-out-for-arena-pro-swim-mesa-loaded-field-expected\/","title":{"rendered":"Psych Sheet Out for arena Pro Swim Mesa; Loaded Field Expected"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>USA Swimming has posted the psych sheet for the next stop of the arena Pro Swim Series, to be held next weekend at Skyline Aquatic Center in Mesa, Ariz.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/vmrw8k5h.tinifycdn.com\/results\/pdf\/arena-pro-swim-series-mesa-psych-sheet-usa-senior-national-2017-04-13.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Click here to view the full psych sheet.<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The field will be packed with Olympians and NCAA champions, and unlike the previous arena Pro Swim meet in Indianapolis, the field will be heavily American as many other countries are currently in the midst of their World Championship Trials.<\/p>\n<p>12 different events will include at least one Olympic medalist from this past summer in Rio, including gold medalists\u00a0<strong>Simone Manuel\u00a0<\/strong>(100 free),\u00a0<strong>Katie Ledecky\u00a0<\/strong>(200\/400\/800 free) and\u00a0<strong>Anthony Ervin<\/strong> (50 free). Also present are 2012 gold medalists\u00a0<strong>Matt Grevers\u00a0<\/strong>(100 back) and\u00a0<strong>Nathan Adrian\u00a0<\/strong>(100 free).<\/p>\n<p>200 free Olympic bronze medalist\u00a0<strong>Conor Dwyer\u00a0<\/strong>will make his post-Olympics competitive return in Mesa, as he&#8217;s entered in the 200 free, 200 IM and 100 free.<\/p>\n<p>Perhaps the most interesting aspect of the meet will be the top performers from the NCAA season making the jump into long course. The Mesa meet will come just three weeks after the conclusion of the men&#8217;s NCAA championships and four weeks after the women&#8217;s, but many top collegians are entered (although they could still choose to withdraw).<\/p>\n<p>On the women&#8217;s side,\u00a0Manuel, Ledecky,\u00a0<strong>Ella Eastin<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>Lia Neal<\/strong> lead a contingent representing the NCAA champion Stanford women, and\u00a0<strong>Mallory Comerford\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Olivia Smoliga\u00a0<\/strong>are also entered. Smoliga will face off with the most notable international swimmer entered, Denmark&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Mie Nielsen<\/strong>, in the 100 back, an event in which both swam in the Olympic final in Rio.<\/p>\n<p>Due to the proximity of this meet to the NCAA men&#8217;s meet, less of those returning from the college scene are entered, but those present include 400 IM NCAA champion\u00a0<strong>Chase Kalisz<\/strong> and 200 fly NCAA runner-up\u00a0<strong>Zheng Wen Quah<\/strong>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>USA Swimming has posted the psych sheet for the next stop of the arena Pro Swim Series, to be held next weekend at Skyline Aquatic Center in Mesa, Ariz.
