{"id":250024,"date":"2017-04-04T12:05:53","date_gmt":"2017-04-04T19:05:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=250024"},"modified":"2017-04-04T12:05:53","modified_gmt":"2017-04-04T19:05:53","slug":"myles-brown-posts-200-free-fina-qualifying-time-at-2017-south-african-nationals","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/myles-brown-posts-200-free-fina-qualifying-time-at-2017-south-african-nationals\/","title":{"rendered":"Myles Brown Posts 200 Free FINA Qualifying Time at 2017 South African Nationals"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The South African swim stars continued to showcase their skills and determination on the second day of the SA National Aquatic Championships taking place in Durban at the Kings Park Aquatics Centre.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cameron van der Burgh<\/strong> cruised to a sterling finish in the 100m breaststroke, clocking a FINA World Championships qualification time of 59.73, while <strong>Daniel Swanepoel<\/strong> (18), <strong>Bryce Skea<\/strong> (17) and <strong>Michael Houlie<\/strong> (16) all confirmed their Junior qualification times.<\/p>\n<p>The silver in the event was claimed by <strong>Alaric Basson<\/strong> in 1:02.62.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Myles Brown<\/strong> was on top of the world in the 200m freestyle semi-final, as he posted his first FINA World Championships qualification time of 1:47.51, to the 1:47.73 requirements and overtook <strong>Chad le Clos<\/strong>, who finished second in 1:49.47.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jarryd Baxter<\/strong> (18), who finished third, scooped his second FINA Junior World Championships qualification time in 1:49.79 and <strong>Timothy Sates<\/strong> (18) added his name to the list in 1:52.94.<\/p>\n<p>In the 100m butterfly, <strong>Dune Coetzee<\/strong> confirmed her FINA Junior World Championships qualification time when she won the silver in the event in 1:01.04 ahead of <strong>Hannah<\/strong> <strong>McLean-Leonard<\/strong> in 1:01.57 and behind Seychelles\u2019 <strong>Felicity Passon<\/strong> in 1:00.88.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Rebecca Meder<\/strong> (14) was on point in the final of the 200m individual medley, winning the race in a FINA Junior World Championships qualification time of 2:16.24, followed by <strong>Nathania van Niekerk<\/strong> in 2:18.79 and <strong>Gabi Grobler<\/strong> (17) with another qualification time of 2:19.83.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tatjana Schoenmaker<\/strong> just missed out on a qualification time in the 100m breaststroke semi-final, as she topped the race in 1:07.99 to the 1:07.58 requirement, while <strong>Kaylene<\/strong> <strong>Corbett<\/strong> (17), <strong>Hanim Abrahams<\/strong> (15) and <strong>Christina Mundell<\/strong> (15) all made the FINA Junior World Championships qualification short list. The final for the event will be held <span data-term=\"goog_1760925295\">tomorrow<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>In the semi-finals of the 100m backstroke, <strong>Mariella Venter<\/strong> (17) raced ahead of the pack with a FINA Junior World Championships qualification time of 1:01.73.
