Delaware Swim Team capped off a strong meet by claiming the team title\u00a0at the 2017 Speedo Sectionals at Christiansburg. They won with 1181 points, followed by Nation’s Capital (938.5) and Egg Harbor Township (687).<\/p>\n
757 Swim’s\u00a0Abigail Larson\u00a0<\/strong>(23.18),\u00a0Joelle Vereb\u00a0<\/strong>(22.91),\u00a0Faith Tyranski\u00a0<\/strong>(23.88), and\u00a0Sofia Long\u00a0<\/strong>(24.09) began the final day of competition by winning the girl’s 200 free relay in 1:34.06. Golden Ram finished second in 1:34.69 and Delaware took third in 1:36.28.<\/p>\n Egg Harbor’s\u00a0Joseph Rogers\u00a0<\/strong>(21.21),\u00a0Nicholas Dinofrio\u00a0<\/strong>(21.64),\u00a0Brian McGroarty\u00a0<\/strong>(21.17), and\u00a0Justin Liu\u00a0<\/strong>(20.11) crushed the competition in the boy’s 200 free relay, winning in 1:24.13. Delaware took second in 1:25.50 and Lancaster placed third in 1:25.71.<\/p>\n Radnor’s\u00a0Morgan Liberto\u00a0<\/strong>crushed the field in the girl’s 200 back, winning by over three seconds in 1:57.48 as the only swimmer under two minutes. Columbia’s\u00a0Theresa Cotter\u00a0<\/strong>touched second in 2:00.66 while her teammate\u00a0Alyssa Vannetta\u00a0<\/strong>placed third in 2:01.28.<\/p>\n Delaware’s\u00a0Jacob Johnson\u00a0<\/strong>dropped over three seconds from his prelims time to win the boy’s 200 back in 1:46.15. Egg Harbor’s\u00a0Cristian Bell\u00a0<\/strong>placed second in 1:47.19 while Coast Guard Blue’s\u00a0Miles McAllister\u00a0<\/strong>touched third in 1:48.67.<\/p>\n Golden Ram’s\u00a0Heather Maccausland\u00a0<\/strong>won her third individual race of the meet, this time taking gold in the girl’s 100 free in 50.19. Larson grabbed silver in 50.36 and Fox Chapel’s\u00a0Lindsey Grune\u00a0<\/strong>dropped two seconds from her seed time to take bronze in 50.38.<\/p>\n Liu won a close boy’s 100 free final, stopping the clock in 45.69. Tri-Hampton’s\u00a0David Curtiss\u00a0<\/strong>placed second in 45.89 and\u00a0Lasse\u00a0<\/strong>Pittioni<\/b>, swimming unattached, took third in 45.94.<\/p>\n Nation’s Capital’s Katelyn Mack\u00a0<\/strong>cruised to first in the girl’s 200 IM, posting a time of 2:00.70. Delaware’s\u00a0Olivia Paoletti\u00a0<\/strong>finished second in 2:03.80 and her younger sister\u00a0Isabella Paoletti\u00a0<\/strong>took third in 2:04.38.<\/p>\n Johnson won his second event of the night, winning the boy’s 200 IM in 1:50.42. His teammate\u00a0Matthew Otto\u00a0<\/strong>placed second in 1:50.88 and Golden Ram’s\u00a0Matthew Magness\u00a0<\/strong>finished third in 1:53.21.<\/p>\n Following up her 500 and mile win, Egg Harbor’s\u00a0Maggie Wallace\u00a0<\/strong>won the girl’s 1000 free by over five seconds in 9:51.28. Radnor’s\u00a0Anna Kalandadze\u00a0<\/strong>took second in 9:56.62 and Egg Harbor’s\u00a0Amanda Nunan\u00a0<\/strong>took third in 10:00.46.<\/p>\n Lancaster’s\u00a0Arthur Markley\u00a0<\/strong>also completed his distance sweep, winning the boy’s 1650 in 15:36.09, 21 seconds ahead of the field. Delaware’s\u00a0Bryce Ciecko\u00a0<\/strong>took second in 15:57.05 while his teammate\u00a0Alec Menzer\u00a0<\/strong>placed third in 15:59.85.<\/p>\n 757 Swim’s Vereb (54.95),\u00a0Colby Hurt\u00a0<\/strong>(1:04.99), Long (56.16), and Larson (50.85) swam to first in the girl’s 400 medley relay, touching the wall in 3:46.95. Nation’s Capital finished second in 3:50.22 and Delaware took third in 3:50.27.<\/p>\n Egg Harbor’s\u00a0Cristian Bell\u00a0<\/strong>(50.69),\u00a0Andrew Duff\u00a0<\/strong>(56.45), McGroarty (51.36), and Liu (45.37) won the final event of the meet in 3:23.87.
